Computer Game Character Lookalikes

Know anyone, or any forummers who look like our favourite video game characters?

Post em here!

Here is AJStone, looking suspiciously like Gordon Freeman (HalfLife). Maybe in 2 we will get to see some pussy...

There's got to be someone around here who looks like Earthworm Jim, Sonic, or Donkey Kong.

Would it also mean you can only be built during a fundamentalist government and require no shields to upkeep?

That is correct. Therefore I unbalance the game completely, because I can be built in large cities at a rate of one per turn, and never require any resources for support.

I don't like the spaceships, so I always play bloodlust!

It's not realistic to say "oh, by the way. there will be peace on Earth and goodwill to all men just cause someone's reached Alpha Centuri"

Actually, I just try and coexist with the computer players on an Earth map, to see what will happen. and if anyone attacks me, I obliterate them. I love Civ.

No, You could win by killing everyone, or getting to alpha centuri first, and there was also a points score too.

However, you got extra points for turns of world peace, and then a rating on the high score table like "Chris the Terrible" and that sort of thing.

I find myself always winning by culture or diplomacy in Civ III as the French or Spaceship with the Persians- I have of yet been able to dominate the entire world... not my style. A continent is all one needs.

The new regicide option in the expansion does make that option much more feasible... might have to try it. (Just got it this week)

I've not actually had a chance to play CivIII properly yet - my kid brother has it, but I've only had a little play. I found that everyone was in awe of my culture, and I subverted cities because of it (which was rather cool).

I quite liked the thing about certain resources being limited to certain continents, so in effect, you're forced to go exploring to gain the resources needed not to be annhilated. The corruption is massive though, if you establish cities over the other side of the map. And there's no fundamentalism

I was rather surprised at the lack of fundamentalism...

The cultural border thing is great- it works wonders over time for "normalizing" the nations; if the romans set up a colony right in the middle of your area in the beginning of the game, it just gets absorbed.

The corruption problem can be solved temporarily by the forbidden palace (acts as second capital) eventually though you either have to suck it in or... dare I say, turn communist.

And strategic resources make for interesting play- often times the lack of one is the sole cause of an empires destruction. Beware the player ready for the space race who does not posess aluminum and uranium...

Yeah, me too - I play with fundamentalism from as soon as it's available.... even though science is still a problem. However, as the units cost nothing to support, you can get to capitalization quicker in the towns, and then make tons of money, which means the tax rate can be zero allowing for as much science as the game will allow.

I also play Civ2 that way. Start off, build the Great Library ASAP, lead the world in technology whilst maintaining peace with your neighbours, build Leonardo's Workshop ASAP, then when you have a sizeable and advanced army, obliterate anyone who attacks. Always works

I've never even played Half-Life, but I know the plot behind it. You, the character, have to escape a compound of some sort, for some reason to do with radioactive stuff. What CD is saying is that he thinks you look like the guy from the game, who wore a radiation suit.

This is nothing to do with your cat

it's a great deal more complex than that, but the beauty of the storytelling is that you find out more and more as the game progresses. i can tell you it's not about radiation, and the hazard suit is the only reason you survive causing the catastrophe that the game is based around...

its escape from aliens in a dysfunctional giant lab compound called black mesa. all of the half life sequals you are different people in the same situation. exept opfor. then the aliens have already started to expand and youre trying to kill them off, by yourself. fun fun.

half-life was a great game. it was lacking in the storyline department, but what fps isn't? in fact, half-life had the best storyline for an 3-d fps of its time, and for a long time since. i haven't played red faction or any of the new ones (blast this p3 and voodoo3!) so i can't speak about the current state of the art.

the thing that made half-life so great (well, ONE of the things... there are so many) was that it was so immersive. every part of the game was designed to make you feel like you are actually gordon freeman in the black mesa facility. the hud was explained (kinda strange how every fps hero mysteriously has a magic health bar in his field of vision...), everything was explained. well, until blue shift; they never explained the hud in blue shift (in opfor it was a helmet)

... that's all for now.
