I'm going to wait just a little bit before I get one... And when the price drops, I'll get another one. I still have to get at least one more DS Lite as well. Not to mention the buttload of games I want.

Already got one.

The reason I want another DS Lite is because I've taken my current one out of the box to play it. I haven't yet, nor do I plan on taking my regular DS out of its box.

The transmission fund was a joke. I just never took the link out of my signature. :P Hell, I don't even know if the link works or not. And besides, I left the majority of my Nintendo collection at my dad's house. The only things I have with me are... one GameCube, one Game Boy Advance SP, my DS Lite, and the games that I have for them. I'd have left the GBA-SP at my dad's as well, but I didn't buy the DS Lite until I got here.

And Jones is right. There are Sonys in there.

Hi. am a bit of an interloper. i am a solo mum of two young children from new zealand and have discovered a fountain 1392 gaming console with six games amongst my boxes in the garage. It is in perfect working order, just missing the knobs from the end of the hand held whatsits. am thinking i might be able to sell this? and in subsequent searches this site and thread have come up often. does anyone know how i might best go about offering this console and what it might be worth? please be kind. cheers and sorry to crash your site.

Mind you, these bloody DS roms are getting BIIIIG no, can't cram as much onto a disc as you used to be able to...

Don't worry. There are already a couple technologies around that can replace DVDs with much higher density media. You'll have plenty of data space to store your disloyalty.

There is probably some homebrew SNES / NES emulator available for the DS, I myself am currently enjoying my single slot DS flash cart, crammed with 10 DS ROMS

But, we won't talk about that

flash cart eh? I guess I must consort ol google for the answers I seek. I am contemplating picking up a hand held, either the DS or the PSP. The DS has more commercial games that appeal to me and I like its price. The PSP can run more homebrew software with a mere memory stick but sony keeps locking it out with firmware updates (the damn fools!). So if I can run my roms from the DS it would make it hard for me to resist picking one up.

Can't recommend flash carts highly enough, I had one for my GBA, fantastic, the DS ones are still fairly new, but they've got them down from great huge blobs of plastic that sat outside the DS to nice same sized DS carts now.

I've currently got the following loaded onto mine
Mario & Luigi Partners in time
Hotel Dusk room 215
Advance Wars DS
Castlevania
Metroid Pinball
Metroid hunters
Bomberman
Nintendogs
Trauma Centre
Viewtiful Joe

If you want to google, you could do worse than terms like ez-flash v, R4DS or NinjaDS

I ordered a Max Media dock. Not so much for the commercial roms, but for the homebrew side of it. ScummVM DS is a work of pure genius, and it looks like even some of the "legit" homebrew (i.e. not emulation-related) is pretty interesting. If I can get it running as an organizer, that will be hilarious.
The slot-1 things look intriguing, but I'm just old-fashioned and cheap, I suppose.

You'd better have bought at least one legit copy of Hotel Dusk, though, Jones. That genre's on life support as it is.
The others on that list, I could care less about

I will but Zelda phantom hourglass though....saving is sometimes a bit flakey on the flash cart and I'd hate to loose a zelda save 90% of the way into it..

If I could afford it, I'd but all my games, sadly my lifestyle precludes that, mind you, I've been pirating games since I can remember, I've got a loft full of c90 tapes full of games from the 80's, boxs of floppy discs from the 90's and cd's crammed with stuff from the 00's

Maybe I need therapy for my magpie like collecting habits

Chev... there is software out there now that reads the PS discs in your computer and plays them.

Ubuntu packages it standard. (psx I believe). I am sure there are windows ports.

And while I am on it .... anyone remember Splatter House 3 for the genesis?

Love it.

Hows aboot 24 NES games for $21,400. How can one get so much for so few... well its due to the little gold cart in the lower left corner of the picture. It just so happens that Nintendo had only made 26 of thoughts particular carts, and they were only given to finalists in a 1990 championship. The funny thing about this sad story is I dont think the father was initially aware of its value for he started bidding at a dollar a cart.

If you are a retrophile such as myself, then I must ask you to please pick your jaw up off the floor after seeing the above headline and image. A fabled golden Nintendo World Championships 1990 (NWC) cart recently sold within a collection of 23 other games in an online auction for $21,400 -- it began on March 18th.

There are only 116 NWC carts in circulation today. Ninety of these cartridges were clad in the standard gray casing, but there were 26 special golden cartridges that were given away through a Nintendo Power contest that ran just before the 1990 championship tour. There were only two ways you could possibly get your meathooks on one of the 116 carts: become a finalist in the championships or be a winner in said contest. That's it.

As you can see, the odds of you or I getting our hands on one or, rather, even seeing one in person are ridiculously slim. The notority of these blessed game cartridges has made them the top pick for avid collector's all over the world and continues to be considered the most sought after piece of gaming history.

However, this auction holds a very unique and interesting tale. Hit the jump to continue reading and find out!

The story behind the auction itself is almost as amazing as the rarity of the game it contains. It was started by a father who had lost his son in the Iraq war. The auction description states that his son passed away a few years ago and now he is deciding to sell some of his son's belongings. Ironically, he would've kept this collection for his daughter, but the NES they owned no longer works.

It is quite tragic for anyone to lose somebody they care for, regardless of the circumstances. Perhaps this auction was his son's final way of paying back his father and easing the pain.

Another thing to note, is that the auction began at a mere $24 -- one dollar per game seemed to be a fair price in the seller's eye. Can you imagine going to someone's yard sale and seeing the literal "Holy Grail" of gaming marked for one buck? I think I'd probably pass out just by seeing the friggin' thing.

Nonetheless, a unique treasure of gaming's past deserves an equally unique story to go along with it.

Damd, talk about good luck / bad luck, nice to find you have $21k's worth of cart in your hands, too bad your son had to bite the dust before you sold it.

Nice to see one out in the wild though, 'tis truly the holy grail of game carts......

Dad wants to buy some DS puzzle/logic games. He says that he's getting a bit slow in his older age, and he wants games that will help speed up his memory and thinking, so he bought a new DS Lite. He knew that I already have a white DS Lite and that I like dark colors, so he bought a black one and traded with me. So now I have the black version, and he's got the white version.

*updates Nintendo system list*

4 GameCubes (one Platinum, one Platinum w/ Metroid bundle, one Jet, one Jet w/ Zelda bundle)
3 N64s (two original, one Smoke)
5 SNESs (three originals, two GenII)
6 NESs (four originals, two GenII)
1 Virtual Boy
1 DS Lite (Onyx Black)
1 DS (Titanium)
3 GBMs (two Special 20th Anniversary Editions, one Black & Silver)
4 GBA-SPs (one Platinum, one Cobalt, one dual-tone Platinum/Onyx, one Classic NES edition)
1 GBA (Platinum)
1 Game Boy Color (Atomic Purple)
2 Game Boy Pockets (one Black, one Clear)
1 Game Boy (original)

19 consoles and 14 portables.

Also... does anyone have recommendations for games that my dad might like? He's mentioned Brain Age, but I'm having difficulty finding that one in any of the stores around here.
