Winamp and midi-karaoke

Hello All,

I confess to not using Winamp. However, I am the FAQ editor of alt.binaries.karaoke, the midi-karaoke newsgroup, and there is a section of the FAQ, probably originated years ago that mentions plugin 3.07 as being able to play .kar (midi-karaoke) files and display the lyrics.

I also found a post in your forum dating back to 2010 that says that Winamp (no version number listed) will play karaoke files, but doesn't mention the type of karaoke files it will play.

Now that most PC users are running Winamp under Windows 7, 8, 8.1 or 10, is there a version of Winamp that will play .kar files and display the lyrics? Is a plugin needed, and if so, which one?

I am in the process of revising the FAQ of my newsgroup and I want the information to be accurate.

Thanks.

I believe the most recent version will work just fine, though you would have to find the correct plug-in to get it to work. You should be fine just googling ".kar winamp plug-in"
