Shall we bring back "n/t" threads? (n/t)

if you clicked, you either want to reply, or don't understand that n/t = "no text."

Therefore, the number of "ignorant" people on these boards may be found by subtracting the number of people who post replies to this thread from the number of view that the thread gets.

But you forget that you I know you like RM, are incapable of writing a post less than a paragraph long.

N-T threads turn would turn this board into ******* more than they already are, so they arn't needed.

If I've got something to contribute to a thread, I'll post... If not, then I'll view and move on. That's not a hard concept, is it?

Yeah, I just thought of that...some complex formula would be needed to adjust the number of views to account for people who are just checking up on the replies...clearly my initial proposed methodology is inadequate.

I didn't know that n/t meant no text. I personally don't think that makes me an ignorant person, just because I haven't learnt certain acronyms and the "lingo"

But that's why I had "ignorant" in quotes...for the purposes of this thread, ignorant is defined as anybody who doesn't know what "n/t" means. Obviously not knowing what some obscure acronym means doesn't make anybody ignorant by the dictionary definition of the word.

Oh yes, and don't forget that there would be a minimum of twice the number of views to posts for any given thread even if everybody that viewed the thread replied to it... because you view, then you reply, and then the forums take you back to the thread to view your reply.

Some1, say i call you a fucking arogant retard in a language you dont know, using nerdy acronyms is equal to that, as not everyone who uses computers are going to understand. get it?

I think the get it was directed at the fact that from a certain point of view, this thread could be seen as calling people who do not know a certain term, dumb, or of lesser knowledge than those who do know it.

But that's just one interpretation.

I still don't get what n/t is. No text? There was text!

What is this, General Non-discussion? Should've posted an announcment instead.

perhaps you dont understand that "ignorant" isnt a kind word, which in it's usage BY YOU, was needless.

and besides, your post is flawed, as even image only posts contain image tags and a url. which can be viewed in plaintext, foo'

Nope, no text doesn't mean that people can only post images, or that replies can't contain text, it just means that the original post contains no text, or no text that pretains to the topic (i.e. putting something like "n/t = no text" is still okay). For example somebody may post a thread titled "how do I get winamp to install? (n/t)," with no text in the body of the post, and then people who felt like it could post instructions on how to install winamp. Such threads were actually quite common on the OLD boards...

plus, there are no unkind words, only unkind statements, and the way in which I used "ignorant" wasn't unkind, as it wasn't even remotely serious...but I'm not going to go into my whole "it's what you say, now how you say it that counts" argument. If nitpicking over my use of the word "ignorant" makes you happy, go ahead.

if i remember correctly, that required a forum hack since v 2.2.1, and i doubt the admin will make the forum any more spammable then it already is.

Indeed there was, partly because I was making a humorous (or so I felt) and slightly satirical reply to jaz's recent "N/T" thread, which also happened to have text in the first post.
