Could do with removing the link though, it is directly to an executable file. God knows what's in it.

Due to corporate copyright fascism we're not allowed to share good things here. Go to /mu/ or start a blog if you want to do that.

disclaimer: if you make it yourself, and you feel so inclined to share, and no one else in the whole wide world can claim a copyright, then you can share until your heart stops beating.

Having said that, I'm still waiting for the RIAA to find some way to sue me and artists like me.

Right, so searching for WMP12, i came across this thread and due to some comments about WMP being bloated etc, i downloaded Winamp 5.54 to test since i currently use WMP11 on Vista.

Current System Specs,

Intel E8400
4gb DDR2
Vista Ultimate x64

Check the attached pic and tell my why according to that WMP is using less resources even while a viz is playing? Am i doing something wrong?

WMP has been running a short while longer than Winamp even. I tried the 32bit WMP and that was pretty much the same.

-Edit WMP spikes up to 36k Memory sometimes, then drops to around 27k again. CPU useage seems pretty similar on both.

Your missing the reason i did it. I wanted to see if it was lighter on resources as claimed. What problems does my task manager have though?

Winamp uses about three times as much memory as WMP does. Regardless, why would you want WMP 12 before Microsoft officially says it's out? Beta anything sucks. Unless the new WMP can rip and play music music in any format, I'm not going to be impressed.

Hi, I'm new.

Wanna reduce Winamp's memory usage? Use a classic skin.

without AVS running, Both mem and VM were only about 9 megs each.

@ Rellik - not to be mean, but more of a public service announcement: Your "dumb test" that you linked to requires full name, full mailing address, and email to get results. Worse yet, the following is quoted from their privacy policy:

Quote:
originally posted by said policy
Quiz Rocket may also use such information to deliver certain direct marketing offers to you via telemarketing, e-mail marketing, direct mail, SMS messaging and other types of direct marketing, fulfill prizes, track compliance with our Quiz Rocket Rules, or for content improvement and feedback purposes. These businesses may include, but are not limited to: (a) providers of direct marketing services to via telemarketing, e-mail marketing, direct mail, SMS messaging and other types of direct marketing; and (b) providers of applications, including lookup and reference, data enhancement, suppression and validation.
a.k.a virtually endless spam, enough that someone might have to change their contact information to get rid of it all...

They should give results with a full rating of completely stupid to anyone that fills in the contact information just to see how they scored on a "dumb test".

Please let people know this if you plan on linking to it.

If this is just a marketing thing that is associated with the picture hosting web site, I apologize for making it seem like you intentionally linked to it, since it's just what they do to keep the bills paid for your pic hosting, although I still say that people shouldn't fall for it.

It is good to see that winamp running little more than music playing is less bloated than WMP. Does the Bento skin take up a lot of extra resources?

Wasn't put there by me, it's something Imageshack put there, and unfortunately, if I remove it, the the image disappears.

I guess I need to find a better image host.

I don't think its finished either. White-ish areas on a Vista basic theme usually means glass, so some of those areas will probably be clear.

WMP12 is very nice and sleek. The best feature is network sharing. Basically, you can now share music "easily" through a network. I can share music from my desktop to my laptop. This is nice since my laptop only has 200gb.

Here are some screen shots. WMP12 is nice. You guys should get it. network sharing and many other features.

Why do you need anything other than winamp to share over a network?
