Multi-monitor dock

Winamp 5.54
Clean install, no 3rd party skins or plugins
Language Pack: default
Skin: Bento (probably all)

OS: Vista Ultimate x64
Locale: en-US
CPU: Athlon X2 3800+
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: Sapphire Radeon X1950 Pro
Sound: RealTek AC'97 (mobo integrated)
DirectX 10

Problem:
I saw that multi-monitor docking made it into this version, so first let me thank the devs for that. Unfortunately, I don't think they accounted for my monitor configuration (see attached image).

To be specific, I am running two 24" widescreen monitors at 1920x1200 resolution, with the right monitor rotated 90 degrees and approximately vertically centered with the main monitor.

Winamp, when docked on the second screen, aligns itself to the top border of the main monitor, which happens to be about three-quarters the way up on the secondary monitor.

Steps to reproduce:
  1. Attach two monitors to your computer and configure the second to extend your desktop.
  2. Configure the second monitor so that its top point is higher than the main monitor (see attached image).
  3. Dock Winamp to the top of the second monitor.

Thanks for your time and attention.

1) No data is displayed under "view file info" for WMA .asx internet radio streams. Here's a place you can test http://loudcity.com/stations/streami...show/index.htm

2) When I select a stream from the AOL radio browser in Winamp I cannot go back to the list of streams by selecting the "Back" button.

3) View file info is disabled for AOL internet radio streams.

4) Artist and track info is not updated after first time listening to an AOL internet radio stream, even if I switch to another stream and then swich back.

Error at winamp closing when Cisco Security Agent (CSA) installed

Winamp 5.54 (build 2147)
Installed with APE plugin

Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins

Locale: Simplified Chinese

Problem:
Winamp crashes upon closing if the machine has CSA (Cisco Security Agent) installed

Method of Reproduction:
1. Install Winamp on a machine that has already installed CSA;

I'm sorry but "One for Nunz" doesn't work for me so I just do a "dir" in Plugins directory.

Winamp 5.54 (build Jul 9 2008)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: default English US

OS: Windows XP sp2
Locale: English US
CPU: Intel Pentium M 1.73Ghz
Memory: 1GB RAM
Graphics: Intel integrated
Sound: SoundMax

Problem: If a song contains non-latin character fetching the album art always fails. In the title bar of the search window you can see it has a problem rendering the character. ( see attachment ) I am not sure if it is grace note that can not handle unicode or winamp but it does work. Using the artist name, I found the album on grace note and I can see that they have a album cover there.

Method of Reproduction:
1. load an mp3 with Unicode characters
2. fetch the album art
3. notice there be either a failed or not results

Equalizer keeps changing automatically...

Winamp 5.54 (build 2147)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: Default (US English)
Skin: Equalizer keeps changing automatically...

OS: Windows XP SP3
Locale: English US
CPU: Intel Pentium D 940 (Dual-Core)
Memory: 1GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
Sound: Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi XtremeMusic
DirectX v9.0c

Problem:
Since the installation of Winamp 5.54, I do realized that the equalizer changes automatically pretty often. It sometimes happen in between the playback of a song, or sometimes changes when other songs are selected manually. In other words, the equalizer changes automatically, and randomly. Sometimes the 60Hz bar would go to the highest level, or sometimes all those bars in the equalizer will reach the highest level. Also the same case here, this happens rather randomly, too.

Before this, I never face any problem with the default (Winamp 4Front EQ) equalizer. On top of that, I never modify any Winamp default settings since many years ago. The default equalizer is always enabled (with the EQ autoloading disabled) and always set flat at the middle, the default preset in other words. I have never used any of those other presets. Also, I've never set any specified preset to any specific songs.

Method of Reproduction:
It's hard to reproduce this error, because this actually happens randomly. So, there's no specific methods to reproduce this bug.

Please take a look at this bug. I am always available for further questioning and enquiry about this bug. Please do contact me for more info about this issue I'm facing.

Just take a look at the screenshot of how the setting in the equalizer in my Winamp looks like: -

Winamp 5.541 Full english lang.

OS: Windows xp sp3
sound: built-in Realtek ALC883 on ASUS P5K-VM board

problem:
Internet Explorer 7 doesn't close properly after it has been launched via Winamp. More precisely, it closes fine, but the process "iexplore.exe" stays hanging in the Task Manager until killed manually.
It ONLY happens with Winamp.

how to reproduce:
Start with IE7 closed and Winamp closed.
Open Winamp, right click its interface and click "Nullsoft Winamp", the "About Winamp" window will appear.
On this window, click the link "visit www.winamp.com" at the bottom.
It will launch IE7 to Winamp's site.
From there, leave Winamp open and just close IE7.
In this case, "IEXPLORE.EXE" process is still there in the Task Manager although it should have been terminated when closing IE7. -> bug confirmed. Winamp process doesn't seem to want to let go IE7 process.

Winamp 5.541

OS: Windows XP SP3

Problem: Title streaming does not work properly when launching a bookmarked AOL Radio Stream

Steps to reproduce:

Launch Winamp
Open Media Library, find an AOL Radio channel. Add it to your playlist, select option to bookmark it.
[Title streaming works]
Close Winamp

Launch Winamp
Open the bookmarks list
Click the bookmark for the channel you selected previously
[Radio station plays, but title streaming does not work].

In my case, the title says 'CBS R20 904P F128?ext=.flv'

Additional Comments:

This issue seems to be related to the new title streaming technology involved with CBS radio... the old ultravox url title streaming was working fine. However, the old AOL radio UVOX URLs seem to no longer be functional so I guess this is moot.

Winamp 5.541 (build 2165)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: None (default English US)
Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins

OS: Vista

Problem:
incorrect playlist item deletion if editing playlist when physically removing file. The item with specific number is deleted, but not the item corresponding to specific song.

Method of Reproduction:
1. select "physically remove selected file(s)" and remember number of that song, but don't yet confirme deletion.
2. add some items to playlist before song, that you started to removing, by drag'n'drop file(s) from explorer or moving items from bottom part of playlist.
3. confirm deletion.
4. see which item was deleted from the playlist (item, which had the same number as you remember. But not the song that you have physically removed)

WinAmp v5.541 (Build 2165)
Tested on:
WinXP SP2 x86
WinXP SP3 x86
Vista SP1 x86
Vista SP1 x64

I am experiencing the same problem as dohboy, after adding the stream and restarting Winamp the steaming title only shows XXXXX?ext=.flv

It seems to be directly related to CBS Radio & AOL Radio streams.

Is there any additional information to identify if this is a WinAmp bug, or a format standard problem from the stream host?

Thanks for your assistance~

Hi everyone:

Not exactly sure where THIS one belongs, but here it goes anyway as I know you Mods will move it to the right place.

Winamp - 5.541 (Sorry, I can't find the Build No.) - Install-over old version
AMD Duron 1 Ghz. CPU
512 MB RAM
Windows XP with Service Pack 3 installed
Modern Skin
OTHER SPECS AVAILABLE ON REQUEST

For whatever reason, I cannot seem to configure the SHOUTcast TV display as there is NO enter or submit button.

Take a look at these screenshots (Apologies in advance if these run off the board display)
http://www.freewebtown.com/pchamster...vdisplay-1.gif
http://www.freewebtown.com/pchamster...vdisplay-2.gif

I checked the preferences, it makes NO MENTION WHATSOEVER of SHOUTcast TV and I do have ALL the boxes checked for that. In fact, here's the screenshot to prove it.
http://www.freewebtown.com/pchamster...references.gif

Any idea as what could be causing this? As it stands now, I can't access ANY of the NSV streams.

You would THINK that if I simply installed over the old version, I wouldn't have THAT problem as that stuff is write-protected, isn't it?

Solutions anyone?

Cheers

This is a serverside issue which (as far as I know) has already been fixed.

Freezes using Remotedesktop

Winamp 5.541 (build 2165)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: None (default English US)
Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins

OS: Windows XP Prof. sp2
Locale: German [ge]
CPU: Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2180 @ 2.00GHz
Memory: 4GB (3.25 supported)
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT
Sound1: Realtek High Definition Audio
Sound2: Creative SB
Sound3: USB Voice over IP
DirectX v9.0c

Problem:
I use remote desktop mostly to connect to my desktop at home and using winamp to listen to my mp3s over internet remote desktop. But if i log off and go home and log in there again winamp freezes and keeps frozen until I kill it using the taskmanager and restart winamp.
The problem is surely caused by the changing of the soundcard to an emulated sound card and back.

Method of Reproduction:
1. install winamp on a computer
2. install remote desktop on this computer
3. connect to this computer with an other computer (emulating soundcard must be active)
4. start winamp in the virtual desktop
5. log off
6. go back to the remote and log in
7. Winamp is frozen!

bug report

Winamp 5.541 (x86) - August 3 2008
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: None (default English US)
Skin: Bug occurs with Winamp Classic skins
OS: Windows Vista Home Premium sp1
Locale: English US
CPU: Athlon 64 x2 4600
Memory: 3GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 6150LE
Sound: RealTek High Definition Audio ALC888
DirectX v10

Problem:
The "Format Info" information given in the File Info dialog has been switched from a read-only box to some other control type. Not friendly for blind screen reader users. In case my brief description isn't enough to clearly indicate the items I'm talking about, here's a copy of the info I pulled from a machine running Winamp 5.35 from this read-only edit box:
Payload Size: 3673733 bytes
Header found at: 0 bytes
Length: 184 seconds
MPEG-1 layer 3
160kbit, approx. 878 frames
44100Hz Stereo
CRC: No, Copyrighted: No
Original: No, Emphasis: None

Method of Reproduction:
1. alt+3 when in main window
2. Tab about for awhile, the read-only edit box listing payload size, bitrate, etc. is missing from the tab order.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Thanks. This has been fixed for the next release.

----First bug

Problem:
Enqueue in Open Files crashes player

Method of Reproduction:
Play an MP3
Hit "l"
Right click on another MP3
Select "Enqueue in Winamp"
The player crashes

----Second bug

Problem:
shortcut inconsistency

Method of Reproduction:
The "l" shortcut key seams to do different things depending whether the player or the playlist editor has focus. One enqueues the file while the other just plays it and loses your current play list.

[Edit -> DJ Egg]
1. Can't reproduce.
2. Expected behaviour (Player + L = Play files / Playlist + L = Add Files)

[Edit -> Jay42]
1. humm maybe its a config issue. Here's a quick video that demonstrates the issue:

http://s236.photobucket.com/albums/ff154/MR2Jon/?action=view&current=09f35770.flv

2. Ok, fair enough

Qeued fils vs. Next song (B)

Winamp 5.541 (build: the newest)
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: None (default English US)
Skin: Only tested with Modern skin.

OS: Windows XP sp2 and persists with sp3
Locale: Danish DK
CPU: Centrino Core 2 (T5500)
Memory: 1GB RAM
Graphics: dunno
Sound: dunno
DirectX: dunno

Problem:
When you Enqueue files either by the Q-button or the JumpToFile-window, and you then want to hear the next track in line, push the B-button and it will replay the same track over and over again until you press the >>-button inside winamp. This has to be done twice, as the first time you press it, it replays one more time.

Method of Reproduction:
1. Open winamp and either play a song right away or
2. Qeueue one or more files in winamp
3. play the first one
4. press the shortcut B-button
5. It will replay the song everytime you press B
6. press the >>-button and it will replay again
7. now either press B-button or >>-button and it will go to next song.

no sample files attached

no logs needed imo

thx. for a gr8 program otherwise!

Known bug, already fixed for the next release.

i had a bug report all written out, and got rejected b/c my 236KB file was "too big" which i think is silly. thats how big a screenshot of winamp is when showing artwork.

supposedly the limit is 200k, so i sent my file to a friend to resize it. she did, and its 196. IT STILL GOT REJECTED!

annoying to say the least, and also demotivating. i have since got a new file to try, but in the meantime IE/the forums have lost my report, i have to do it all over again.

in any case, i will try posting my two screenshots now that illustrate the TPE2 missing songs bug in winamp. i'll post a full bug report later, if i actually get the screenshots posted this time.

Winamp 5.541

Skin: Bento

OS: Windows XP sp3
Locale: English US
CPU: P4 3.2
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: Nvidia 7600GT
Sound: Creative SB X-Fi Elite Pro
DirectX v9.0c

Problem:
Ok, second try to document this. hopefully you have looked at the two screenshots above.

notice how i have the artwork displayed in the first one.

i am using TPE2 to categorize / sort my albums. you call this field "album artist."

i have the album "second coming" by the stone roses highlighted, and you can see where it displays the songs, that tracks 9, 10, 11, and the hidden track are missing.

HOWEVER, if we now look at the second screenshot above, we can see that ALL 13 tracks are now present for the same album.

the only difference is the word "the" isn't in those "missing" tracks in TPE2. but i think it goes beyond just this special case word.

now, if you were to highlight the stone roses in artwork view in the left column, you would see all the tracks! (i didn't post a screenshot of that, but take my word for it)

so the issue as i see it seems to be that if you have an album that has mismatches in TPE2, and you select (highlight) the album in artwork view, its only going to display the tracks that are equal to the first matching string it finds.

in other words, if it had found "stone roses" before it found "the stone roses" it would have only displayed the 4 missing tracks, and not the 9 ones it did.

this issue may go beyond just the exemption article of "the"

(in other words this isn't just about the "the" exemption)

i think it would hold true for any TPE2 mismatch, and winamp seemingly chooses to exclude whatever is different from the first track's TPE2 it finds.

relatedly, as a separate bug report:

if an album has a extra space included in the album tag, at least at the end of the string if not elsewhere, winamp will call that a second and separate album.

so, the beatles "help" album, if tagged as:

1. "Help" on some tracks, and
2. "Help " on some others, comes up as two distinct albums.

so anyway, i think winamp is the greatest and i love DJ egg and the developers, but honestly the website really angered me yesterday. perhaps you can revise your policy to allow for full artwork in display screen shots of winamp?

thx guys!

(please ask for any clarifications necessary)

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Reproduced (Album Artist/Art issue). Thanks :-)

Egg and Devs,

i still love winamp and think you all are the greatest, but i am confused...

a couple of posts were deleted, so i don't know exactly which thing you reproduced. i assume the TPE2 issue, but i don't know how you define it.

can you please describe the issue as you see it? i just want to be sure you have the full scope of it, beyond the one symptom i have illustrated here.

Winamp 5.541 - clean install
-Windows XP SP3
-DirectX 9.0c
-Bento skin

Insert a CD that has not been played before.

Reject the CDDB info dialog.

Browse to Audio CD in Media Library

Right click on any track number in Media Library

Go to Music CD tab.

Select Lookup

Accept the CDDB dialog

Now all the info for the CD is complete except the track titles. This is a bug.

Problems closing vis plugins via Winamp

Winamp 5.541
Installed from winamp5541_full_emusic-7plus_en-us.exe, not all features installed. Clean install, no 3rd party skins or plugins.
Language Pack: None (default English US)
Skin: Classic skins

OS: Windows Vista Ultimate SP1
Locale: English US
CPU: Core 2 Quad Q6600
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT
Sound: Realtek ALC889A onboard on Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R
DirectX v10.0

Problem:
If the a visualization plugin is stopped via Winamp, that causes Winamp to lose track of whether the plugin is running and in most cases crash.

Method of Reproduction:
Run Winamp
Select a classic skin (default or downloaded)
Play some audio
Select AVS v2.81d as the visualization plugin.
Double-click on the miniature visualization to start the plugin, and repeat.
The first three double clicks work as expected (showing, quitting and then again showing the plugin). However, after the third double click the plugin receives all zeros audio data, and other bad things happen, such as the plugin not quitting, an illegal instruction in the plugin, a crash of Winamp or a crash on exit.

Bad things also happen with other plugins. Third party plugins which detect an attempt to start the plugin while it is already running fare a bit better. The same problems happen if the plugin is stopped via the configuration dialog. There are no problems if plugins are closed by closing their windows or using the plugin's own user interface to quit them.

Attaching my_plugin_list.txt.

Allways on top problem

There is an old problem with 'Always on top' feature.
I use 5.541 version with bento skin.
Where the combination Start+D is pressed winamp is not anymore on top of other windows but 'Always on top' option is shown as it is checked. To make it works it needs unchek and check this option again.

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Can't reproduce this.
Is "disable aot when fullscreen apps are focused" checkmarked in General Prefs?
If so, then this feature is working as intended.

Egg,

i need to append to my bug report.

first i need to tell you that when i made that report, i had some wrong settings in winamp. i have now done full clears and rescans with ALL the no guessing options set, and the checkmark removed for "use artist as album artist if none present"

so essentially, i should now only be seeing whats in my tags, and nothing else.

so, the first thing i need to tell you is the 4 songs by the stone roses had NOTHING in TPE2. with my new no guessing settings, this changes the behavior somewhat, but the bug is still there.

so what i did was i added "Stone Roses" to TWO of the four "missing" songs, that had blank TPE2's.

essentially the bug is still there, and in fact its worse... the guessing/use artist as album artist options masked it to some degree.

so its not just when there is or isn't a "the" found, or which is found first... (it IS those things, but now it also) depends on the library settings AND if the field is totally blank or not.

(i am assuming this is only a TPE2 issue, but it might also hold true for TPE1)

all these things need to be looked at, meaning, there are several different scenarios under which this bug could surface to some degree. more later...

INFO FILE editor (ALT+3) bug

Winamp 5.541 (build 2165)
3rd-party plugins:
[in_APE.dll] Monkey's Audio Player v3.99
[dsp_jammix.dll] Jammix

Language Pack: ITALIAN
Skin: Bug occurs with all of Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins

OS: Windows XP sp2
Locale: Italian IT
CPU: Intel Core 2 Quad Q9300
Memory: 4GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 4850
Sound: Creative SB X-Fi
DirectX v9.0c

Problem:
When opened, "Info file" editor (press ALT+3 on a selected file into playlist) replaces all data of the current song with the song in playing in that moment.

Method of Reproduction:
1. Run Winamp
2. Load a few tracks audio in playlist
3. Click on a item and open "info file" (ALT+3)
4. Let the music play, don't change any parameter, and if you want to save time, scroll the tempo bar at few second since track's end. Or play another song, and leave open the InfoFile editor

5. While playing any other track, the "info editor", that I opened, should refer to the that specific track, not the track that I'm playing now!

6. With parameters unchanged click OK to apply, you can see (in playlist) that the file edited (to pretend), take the parameters of the current file in playing! despite the editor infofile was referring to another file !!

Bookmarks don't display in pane

Winamp 5.541
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins
Language Pack: French
Skin: Bug occurs with Bento, Big Bento, Winamp Modern and Classic skins

OS: Windows Vista SP1
Locale: French
CPU: Athlon 64 X2 4000+
Memory: 2GB RAM
Graphics: ATI Radeon X1250
Sound: Emagic A26
DirectX v10

Problem:
The bookmarks list doesn't display in the "bookmarks pane" whereas they can be reach via Menu File --> Bookmarks.
An so they can't be modified, as the "modify" menu open the pane... which is empty. So the only way to modify them is to edit the winamp.bm file (but the issue don't come from this point).

Method of Reproduction:
1. Only happens since the last updated version
2. I tried to uninstall all/reinstall but it did nothing.

Problem:
Game graphic stutter every half second when using Classic Skin.. I don't have to play anything, just having Winamp running is enough!

Method of Reproduction:
1. Start Winamp with Modern Skin
2. Start a game (World of Warcraft in my case)
3. Choose Classic skin in Winamp
4. Watch the graphics stutter!

Problem:
Winamp can't play songs with the character "ọ" in the file name or folder name. The library can read and show it right. The only problem is the playback doesn't work. Tag's can't be read too.
Unicode: U+1ECC (capital), U+1ECD (minuscule)

[Edit --> DJ Egg]
Weird. Can't reproduce.
I try to explain it again.
When I try opening an mp3 file with an "ọ" in the path, it won't open. If I'll add it to the playlist and try reading the id3 tag with "View file info..." winamp shows the error massege: "Error opening file - The system can't find the path".
Everything works fine with Windows Media Player. :-/
Would appreciate the fix of this bug.

Happy Christmas and new Year!

a new bug report and a new issue, but my system specs are the same...

open two instances of winamp, and in one, physically remove some files by a band, (in my case, only dupes, not all the files).

the actual files will be deleted into the recycle bin, but their entries will still be in the winamp DB. rescan-ing, opening and closing winamp (causing a rescan), or trying the "remove all dead files" command don't do it, even if you only have one instance of winamp open.

the only cure i found, was to clear the entire media library and rescan it in from scratch.
