New pictures of PS3 (56K user warning)

I don't know about you, but those controllers look shitty. Why would they change up the best controller design ever for that?

*wants XBox even more now*

And they got that Spiderman text stuff going on.

The multiple colours is interesting though...

That controller looks really lesbian friendly

Mind you , it does say 'conceptual mock up' underneath it, so anything is possible.

What's that oblong slot on the end of the machine on it's side for on the second picture? another hard drive bay that no one will use maybe?

Oh, didn't even notice that.

Thank God, lets hope they change that...

I don't feel like holding two big dildos as I play.

Never mind that, you'll be wondering where your second controller keeps vanishing too while you are playing GTA4, specially if you always have vibration mode switched on

i always hated how the ps controllers seperated the d pad unlike nintendo or xbox. it starts to hurt your fingers after only a bit. its quite a task trying play tony hawk any good on a sony controller. i cant believe there still not going to change that. all the 3rd party controllers for the ps always use the contected d pad.

i dont like the way it looks i never liked the whole two tier thing with the ps2 (it lookd like it was meant for the 70's) it looks better than the ps2. still its not attractive. the way it looked hadnt been revealed for more than a day and there were already people making fun of how it lookd like a george forman grill.

its going to cost a fortune i probably wont even get to play one for real for at least 2 years after it comes out. how long did it take the ps2 to come down in price? at least 3 years at 299 was it?

The Spiderman thing is itself just the 1979 font in Italics.

Rather Ironic that the previous use of it was on the Animorphs book covers, thats how I know it.

Man that thing looks like a Brevel maker...

It kinda looks like those double-sided grills at Taco Bell that they cook their quesadillas and crunchwraps in.

I won't be buying another piece of Sony hardware at all, especially not a Playstation.

It looks like a cross between a George Foreman grill and a Bang & Olufsen stereo.

Hmmm...
They can't think of really original designs, I guess. So they had to take cues from Bose. At least Sony chose a good product to base their crap on.

I guess they don't have too much to say to people who don't particularly like steering wheels, then.

that controller is confirmed now. very sad. the very gif above is testiment and has been deemed as "damage control". (in other words everyone hated it, even sony fans. becuase it has now become real they are turning around and excusing it) sony recently released a press release saying that the basic design of the control will stay that way and they will now only be making minor adjustments. these adjustments probably wont have much to do with how it looks.

bleh i looked for a link to the article but apparently gamespot sucks very very much ... and i hate it.... alot

I'd be willing to try that controller in-store, just to be fair...but it better perform a heck of a lot better than it looks.

Seriously.

It might make a pretty good weapon though I'm sure it would shatter upon contact with the human skull.

I don’t necessarily judge a console by its ascetics but rather by its feel and its content. I agree the new PS3 controller looks a bit silly but I will wait for a feel of it before I decide for or against it. Kudos though to the 360 redesign for they have resolved my two qualms with the type-S xbox controller (thoughs being the oval convex buttons, and the poor placement of the back and white buttons).I am however disappointed in their decision to make all the buttons on the new controller digital opposed to the pressure sensitive analog configuration found in the original xbox controller. The revolution controller also looks like a very interesting concept that I am egar to get a feel for... but all will be resolved in time and I am in no rush to this next generation for this current one still has life .

I don't think it's really safe to stack video game components. In fact, it never really has been, because so many of the previous generations of consoles loaded from the top.

But nowadays, the things make so much heat, you'd probably start a fire if you stacked something on top of it--or at least make the thing crash. That's probably why the top is round.

And personally, I LOVED the black and white buttons...
