Unable to access DSP/Effect plugins through preferences.

Got a bit of problem.

So I recently un-installed and re-installed Winamp and lost all of the plugins I had acquired for it. I browsed through a few in the plug-in area of Winamp.com and installed them, and now when I go to preferences>Plugins>DSP/Effect Winamp freezes, 'Encounters and error' and 'needs to close'. All other plugin categories are accessible except for this one. This only happened AFTER the plugins, and I don't know how to go about getting rid of the ones that I added without removing the default ones.

Need to know what operating system you're using and a list of plugins

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread....161361#plugins

Also make sure you're using the latest version of Winamp.

I don't have Vista 64 to check on. Someone else will have to check it out.

I can make some suggestions though based solely on the One-for-Nunz log you posted:

1) Do a clean reinstall of the latest version of Winamp. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=161361#clean One-for-Nunz is reporting you're still using 5.58. The latest version release is 5.6. Download and install from here: http://download.nullsoft.com/winamp/...-7plus_all.exe

2) The One-for-Nunz log also indicates that the Electri-Q DSP is the currently selected (active) plugin. With Winamp completely closed try temporarily moving/removing the "dsp_electriq.dll" file out of the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Winamp\Plugins" folder and see if that's the plugin causing the problems.

Okay.

I closed Winamp, went into that directory, took that file and put it on the desktop. I then opened Winamp and was able to access that category. I then closed Winamp again, put the file back and reopened Winamp and was able to access it again. I guess it worked. Thanks, guys.

Did you download AVS (Advanced Visualization Studio) or MilkDrop presets or visualization plug-ins? Most visualizations and/or AVS/MilkDrop presets should come with an self installer. Just run the installer. After installation run Winamp and go to Plug-ins > Visualizations to select the plug-in.

If it an AVS (Advanced Visualization Studio) preset, start AVS and right click on the AVS window to select the preset.

If it is a MilkDrop preset, start MilkDop while the music is playing and press L to load a select a preset. You might need to click on the vis window to before pressing the L key.

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.
