"As you all surely know by now, Winamp & SHOUTcast have recently changed ownership (from AOL to Radionomy).

The winamp.com website is currently undergoing heavy work and an almost-completely new redesign.
As a result, many features will be unavailable, including some in-client services.

The Winamp downloads and Winamp Pro purchases will also be temporarily unavailable
whilst code licensed to/by the previous owner is removed/replaced.

We hope to have everything restored and back in working order as soon as possible,
and we apologize for any inconvenience caused in the meantime.

Watch this thread for any further updates."

Hmm, not so pleased about that. I have been using Winamp since the beginning of the Internet. How come?

Winamp isn't dead. AOL sold Winamp and the website is going through some changes right now.

Again, Winamp is currently not dead.

Noup, there was no pause (a day or two at most when moving the database to Radionomy's servers). There was a "just in case" alternative forum (Winamp Enthusiasts Forum), but it went off when this was confirmed to continue.
From that site / forum there is left a FB group for enthusiasts and my DeviantArt group Winampers for resources and UI related stuff (both being actively worked on).

now if they were talking about WinAMP or WinAmp then they'd be right they're dead, but Winamp is just a bit broken in some places due to post-sale 'fun' but it's not like you're stopped from still listen to your cheesy 80's europop or whatever floats your boat (is almost amusing how we seem to get spates of 'oh noes Winamp is closing' and we're what 8 months since the sale happened (at the time of this reply).
