Winamp Microphone Question

Hello,

I have started up an online radio station/ talk show using listen2myradio to serve the station with winamp and shoutcast installed on my laptop.

I want to have two hosts (me and another guy) to run the show.

What route should I go with microphones? I have many usb ports, so would two usb headsets (with mic) work as the input? (and if I use headset mics, will I be able to hear what the other guy is saying?) or should I use like a mixing board and plug the output of the mixing board into my mic input jack?

Any suggestions/ directions would be helpful. Thanks!!!

The currently ascribed manner to bring in multiple hosts/announcers on a station is to use an external mixer. If you use 1 or more USB connected headsets you would need to do software mixing on the computer before the SHOUTcast DSP picks it up.

Thank you! Do you have any suggestions for cheap microphones that will produce reasonable quality (I have a mixer).

Or can headsets work with a mixer?

I've never had the occasion to purchase microphones for an external mixer so I don't know if there's even a cheap option. And not everybody's definition of cheap is the same. I've only ever done software mixing so it's never come up for me.

Generally, external mixers do not support directly plugging in and mixing input from the microphone of USB headsets. I doubt you'll be able to find one.
