[5.7] Some bugs (Auto-Tag/Drag and Drop/Context menu)
Hi all,
I don't know if you support this version of WinAmp as well. Anyway, hope that can help. I installed Winamp in my new computer. The 5.63 version needed several minutes to be operational (the playlist was black). So I switched to the latest one 5.7 beta. But other bugs occured. Winamp 5.7 (build 3323 beta) Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: French (Problem also occurs with English) Skin: Winamp Modern Safe Mode : tested, same effect OS: Windows 8 Home RTM (64-bit) Locale: French FR CPU: Intel i7 3632QM @ 2.2Hz (8 CPUs) Memory: 8GB RAM Graphics: AMD Rodeon HD 7730M & Intel HD 4000 Sound: Conexant SmartAudio HD DirectX 11 Problem 1: Auto-Tag function (from the File Info panel). When I clic on the Auto-Tag (one or several tracks previously selected), the "working" popup is displayed during the information search. The File info is updated. But when I clic on OK, Cancel, Alt+F4, other tabs of this window (Artwork, ID3v1...), the white X of the window, nothing happens and the File Info remains open. The only workaround I found is to Desactivate and activate again the PlayList or to close. winamp. The data are not saved. When I open the File Info window and I don't clic on auto-tag, the buttons OK, cancel... are still active. Method of Reproduction: 1. Select a track 2. Alt+3 (open the File Info) 3. Clic on Auto-Tag button. Problem 2: Drag and Drop doesn't work between Windows Explorer and Winamp playlist. Problem 3: Adding tracks from Windows Explorer context menu. Every time a Windows popup asks me to authorize the change on my computer. When I add 50 songs in this way, 50 popups to validate ... Can that be changed, i consider that it's not a good behaviour? Thank you ! #1 - not tried though auto tag has always been weird so might even be it's silently crashing and then causing the issue.
#2 - sounds like you've got a persmissions issue as it does work as long as you've not started Winamp as an admin for example and Explorer was started under a normal user. best option is restarting the machine and making sure that you've not enabled anything on the winamp.exe shortcut used to start it relating to starting it under an admin account. #3 - probably related to #2 but it's not a message which is being generated by Winamp directly (if i'm following what you're describing). and if you're having permission issues as with #2, it could very likely lead to this issue as well. |

it confuses me b/c I never use the auto tag button from the alt+3 window. when I do so, following the 3 above, the info updates in the file info window. I never see any "gracenote dialog" like I do if I autotag from somewhere else. so, I don't know if that's intended or not, and I don't think I can see what you're seeing? Hi Benj64,
I'm using the latest Winamp beta (5.7.0.3367) and auto-tag is working on my system when used as you describe. I see the working notice briefly appear before the data appears. Then clicking on OK saves the updated info. Make sure your files are not set as read-only. Are your files located on a local drive or a network or otherwise attached drive? Use the Winamp Info Tool to generate an extended report of your Winamp configuration. Zip it and attach the zip file to a post. The link below allows you to get the latest beta (4.1) of the tool, see post #251. http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=328932&page=7 Although Winamp's Gracenote supported auto-tag is working for me, I don't use it because I frequently get bad results. The artist and/or song title is changed, so all the other tags are also wrong. I find that "Mp3Tag" provides better results (also not perfect) for my files that need missing tag info. Better info trumps convenience for me. ![]() http://www.mp3tag.de/en/ Did DrO's comments help with your other 2 problems? Windows 10 Home 64-bit v21H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |
