Don't know if this has been mentioned before but...
This bug might be fixed but it broke the ability to drag 'n drop from a plugin or program with DROPEFFECT_COPY set...only works with DROPEFFECT_LINK which no other program/plugin like (neither explorer nor ml will take those)

Anyone knows if this will be fixed?

[edit]
Apparently it worked with combining LINK & COPY...so just ignore me

Why 5.91 when 5.90 works fine?

Simple: If it ain't broke - don't fix it. So why should I now upgrade to the new 5.91? It works fine for me.

Any way to shut off these nag messages to upgrade?

Some people, (I guess,) think upgrades mean "better".

5.09 is broke and it sucked, there were quite a few bugs in it. read the first post in this thread!
- Fixed: Easy Move of video window back to normal *
- Fixed: Pause in WMA playback memory leak
- Fixed: Multi-monitor full screen video *
- Fixed: Drag and Drop in playlist editor *
- Fixed: Drag and Drop on Winamp *
- Fixed: Now Playing update on song change *
- Fixed: Media Library/Windows Media scanning errors *
- Fixed: Stay in fullscreen/Config mismatch *
- Fixed: Ctrl-B Crash *
(* means its just for bugs that 5.09 actually created)

but if you want to turn it off, winamp preferences > general preferences > "uncheck" check for new versions...

Some people, (I guess,) think upgrades mean "better".
I often wonder why some people post in these forums without having read anything and therefore post without a clue about what's happening. As Billy said, and if you had bothered to read the first post in this thread, you will see that 5.09 was broke and it did suck (look at what Billy referenced above).

The above listed bugs are a major part of the reason WHY 5.091 was released - to fix those problems. So, when you said it works fine for you, of course now you see that you were wrong. And in this case, upgrading is "better", not just for you, but for everyone else as well.

Don't email or PM me concerning Winamp. Instead, either start a NEW TOPIC or post a REPLY in the appropriate thread in these forums. This will also benefit others who may have a similar question or problem. But before posting, please first Search the forums and read all FAQs and all Sticky threads.

I'm still getting the same problem. Abnormal CPU jumping. I've uninstalled 5.091 & rolled back (yet again) to 5.08d. I've uninstalled the Sonic Runtime Engine, removed all my plugins, and yes, I was that desperate, I even formatted my system. But to no avail.

If I may quote End Of World, "WTF^^"

C'mon kids, what's the go here? I <3 my Winamp. Let me use the new version!

Here is my stats.

CPU: Intel P4 2.4ghz
RAM: 512
OS: Windows XP Professional /w SP2
Spyware: nope
Adware: nope

Seriously folks, what is the go here?

Many thanx Billy.

Sorry if I didn't read every post or look at every thread. Winamp is an excellent program and vital utility I use everyday, but only for listening to music. I never had any idea that there were any problems.

Still the same problem here in .091 and .092 (no problem with .09 and all other previous versions).

I'm unable to seek. Forward, backward, any files (mp3, wav, ogg ..) result in a Winamp crash. Kill the task is the only solution (and then reinstalling .09).

My bug reports were deleted (I suppose because they are incomplete), but unfortunatly I'm not able do make better reports ... I don't really speak English.

Ok thank you, I've posted some more details.

There is no winamp logfiles or a kind of crash.txt (maybe it'll be more easy, because of my poor english) ?

I concur, OMGKTHNXBBQ!!1!!11one. Maybe it's just a placebo effect, but 5.092 seems to go faster than previous versions.

The tiny bit of faith that went out of a smoke when winamp started doing that have now come back looking all sheepish & is mumbling "sorry, we didn't think". Props to the winamp team.

There would have been a significant delay in 5.091 with lots of tracks in the playlist ( > 1000 ). This has been corrected.

"Other general small tweaks/bugfixes ;-)"
What does this consist of?

So far I'm happy with 5.08d.
Although modern skins are a tiny bit slow to build up on first start.

Thanx

I feel that the updates doesn't really affect me as I don't use Winamp for WMA playback, video and online content.

Mostly its only mp3 playback and ocassional using og ML to tidy my collection.

Thanx

Fading not working!

Since WinAmp Version 5.091 the fading between songs / on seek / on pause etc. is not working anymore!

It was still OK in Version 5.09 - since I've updated it to 5.091 and 5.092 it doesn't work. (No, I didn't change anything in the Preferences!)

When I take a look to Preferences -> Output -> DirectSound 2.3 Window, it seems everything to be OK...

Buffering:
Buffer lenght has 2000ms, Prebuffer is 500ms, Buffer-ahead is 0ms

Fading:
Old style fade is not checked, Don't abort... is checked

Is there a bug in the DirectSound Output!?

As far as I know there have been no complaints/reports of crossfading not working in 5.091/5.092.

The crossfading between tracks (which you can toggle on the modern skin) is working fine, but that's not the problem!

I mean the fading effect, when I seek in tracks or pause / jump to another track. It seems to be lost since 5.091...

No reports about that either...

Could you confirm the following settings?

Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Output > double-click DirectSound output > tab Fading
select 'on pause/stop'
check 'Enabled'
If 'Use custom fade time' is checked, be sure the fade time is set higher than 0 (set it to about 200, 300, whatever).

And then the same for 'on seek'.

You have to reconfigure because of the new DirectSound output build! (v2.3(d))
