Winamp Silent Install Method
If there are any developers here
can u tell me how to silently install Winamp 5.93? I know of the /S switch but a registration window pops open. there must be a way to install this beast silently. |

winamp50*.exe /S /install=SFQDRA
/S = Silent install S=start menu icons, F=file association, Q=quicklaunch icon, D=desktop icon, R=fake registration, A=run winamp agent/set default So maybe try: /S /install=R |

Hmm, so you still get the reg screen after using the " /S /install=R" switches, as referenced in my first reply?
Alas, there's no switch for not including video support (the switches were implemented waaaay before the 2.9x series when video support was first introduced). The only way you'll achieve that is to install the Lite version (no modern skin, media library, video, burning/ripping support). As for emusic... you'll need to download the plain Full installer, not the bundle. However, I'm not allowed to post a link to said installer, but if you've ever downloaded the plain Full version before (pre. 5.09x) then I'm sure you can work out the url/filename ;-) |

Hi,
sorry to say that but neither of these switches works at all... ![]() Hopefully, this issue is easy to fix cuz I'm anxious to use them for my unattended DVD. |

I'm also trying to use silent un/installation with latest winamp5-lite. (Lite to avoid unnecessary cruft like the emusic promotion..)
Installing with "/S /install:SFQR" asks for user registration and starts the program, both of which disrupt silent installation. Uninstalling with "/S" is not silent either. It bounces up an useless "uninstall complete" dialog.. Any possibility of getting up-to-date MSI-packages of Winamp? http://www.msfn.org/board/index.php?showtopic=17412 That MSI-package, if it were up-to-date and fully functional (as described), would solve all our problems :-) |

...and I forgot to mention, another thing missing is a simple way to identify the version number of currently installed winamp. Most programs include it in one form or another with the installed registry keys, but I haven't found such keys for winamp. Only obvious way is to check "whatsnew.txt" that's included with the program but that's lame and prone to fail.
