well im verry happy there is a new release of sc_serv on the way unfortinantly i have ran into a problem i cant seem to solve.

the thing is i need to run two instances of sc_serv simply because sambroadcaster doesnt yet support the new shoutcast 2 and it cant read listener statistics from difrent streams on one instance only from each instance.

both instances are configured the same apart from of cause there port numbers and log files.

i can stream mp3 and aacp just fine to both instances server show the stream and that they are online.
However when i stream aacp to one of the two instances the client (winamp) cant connect propely.
if i switch from aacp to mp3 it works just fine.

now in the log i get the folowing messages.
Quote:
2010-08-24 19:54:47 I msg:[dst x.x.x.x:3666 sid=1] Shoutcast 1 client connection accepted. WinampMPEG/5.0
2010-08-24 19:54:51 E msg:[dst x.x.x.x:3666 sid=1] Socket error while waiting to send data. err=Broken pipe(32)
i will ad de configuration here

code:
portbase=8000
password=############
adminpassword=#######
screenlog=0
uvox2sourcedebug=1
logfile=/home/shoutcast/shoutcast2/logfile2.log
w3clog=/home/shoutcast/shoutcast2/sc2_w3c.log
log=1
yp2=1
autodumpsourcetime=30
publicserver=never
allowrelay=0
maxuser=250
listenertime=0
introfile=/home/shoutcast/shoutcast2/GRIseriousaboutgaming.mp3

buffertype=1
adaptivebuffersize=5

requirestreamconfigs=0
streamid_0=0
streampath_0=/GRI2

i would apriciate any help in fixing this i would really like to get shoutcast 2 up because of its dynamic buffer capability i would much ratehr use shoutcast 2 even if sambroadcaster doesnt support fully yet

This is strange,the only time what you describe happens to me in tests is when
the yp "public" flag is set and sc2 refuses to serve any clients until it is listed in the yp.
With the flag set to "never" like you do it has never happened.

I tried to replicate your error with the same config,the only difference,
I was using sc_trans2 as the source.It worked fine.

If I find anything that can help I will return with the info,but since I do
not use sam I cant 100% match your setup.

Try the default adaptive buffer size [1] and see if that makes any difference.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.

i tryed it with a one second buffer but the result is the same.
i have had it working with the trancecoder as the source which was great cause no i only had a 5 second buffer in shoutcast 2 where shoutcast one would cause a 90 second buffer for a 32kbit stream.

the thing is, its accepting the stream from sam just fine and it is sending data to sc_serv. Switching the encoder to mp3 (not changing any thing to the shoutcast server) the server works and clients can connect just fine.

could this have to do with the yp2 protocol? sc_trans needed to be set to yp2 for it to work properly.

i might try and see if i can get sc_trans to stream to the second instance of sc_serv this may not be a pritty solution but if it works then sam can get the stats and stream mp3 once then the transcoder wil take care of the aacp stream which schould work if sc_trans is the source

SamBroadcaster => sc_serv (instance 1) => sc_trans => sc_serv (instance 2) => aacp client

yes that is to connect to two difrent servers thats the part i got to work but instread of having a source connect to sc_trans or having sc_trans play local files (which i got working just fine) i need sc_trans to connect to the first sc_serv instance so it takes the mp3 stream and then outputs it again as aacp only how do you get sc_trans to use a shoutcast stream as its source?

what im trying to achive is using sambroadcaster as a source and being able to offer listeners an mp3 stream and a aacp stream.

now sambroadcaster and just stream mp3 and aacp that is what i initialy tryed and causes the connection problemd for the clients wanting to use the aacp stream.

since mp3 works just fine i would like to use sc_trans to connect to the mp3 stream and transcode it to aacp to stream to the second instance of sc_serv which should then work just fine for the clients using the aacp stream because sc_trans as an aacp source works for shoutcast 2 (i set this up as a test it works well)

Ok while I have a lunch break....

Red Sackles

You can get sc_trans to relay an existing dnas and transcode it to aacp.
It is done using the calendar.xml file.

code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<eventlist>
<event type="relay">
<relay priority="1" url="http://127.0.0.1:8000/;" />
<calendar starttime="00:00:00" />
</event>
</eventlist>

Read through the sc_trans thread and docs for any further help.
Its all a bit tricky but it does work !!
Any future questions about sc_trans should be over in the sc_trans thread
because there are lots of others who help and share info there and they may not
see any questions you post here in dnas thread.

So Long, and Thanks for All the Fish.

I tried the latest SHOUTcast DNAS 2 Beta with Windows XP and 7 (x64)... I double click the file "sc_serv.exe" (on win32 folder) but it does nothing, altough appears a "sc_serv.exe*32" process in Windows Task Manager.
With 1.9.8 I can see the server monitor without problems.
Where is the problem?
Thank you in advance.

I thought I'd give the beta a try, but it turns out that it won't work on the clunker of a machine I need to run it on. The specific error upon trying to start sc_serv.exe is "The procedure entry point AttachConsole could not be located in the dynamic link library KERNEL32.dll" ...which I assume means Windows 2000 is not supported. I don't blame you for not supporting Win2K anymore, but it would've been nice to see this non-backward-compatible aspect of the software mentioned on the download page so I wouldn't have wasted my time. Please consider adding minimum system requirements to the /download page. Gracias!

i have a question about the logging in shoutcast 2 cause i cant seem to get the data i need.
now i can get the messtages from the clients connecting and basicly thats all the information i need to compleate my logging for the authoritys.
however i need shoutcast to keep that information and aperantly it doesnt save the logs for more then 4 days back.
the server has been running for nearly a full month now but i can only find logging in the filesfor about 6 days back.
does shoutcast overwrite or remove the older log files of what is happening here ?

there are the kinf of messages im looking for
code:
2010-10-04 00:14:54 I msg:[dst 192.168.0.66:2254 sid=1] Shoutcast 1 client connection accepted. WinampMPEG/5.58, Ultravox/2.1

2010-10-04 00:15:06 I msg:[dst 192.168.0.66:2261 sid=1] Shoutcast 1 client connection accepted. WinampMPEG/5.58, Ultravox/2.1

i have server log files
which all contain 24 hours of logging messages
logfile1.log, logfile1_1.log, logfile1_2.log, logfile1_3.log, logfile1_5.log

any way of making it keep all the messages in one file or for it to keep more days ?

Hi, I went to upgrade all our customers from 1.9.7 to this 2.0 but found a few bugs that stopped me.

#1 - the biggest problem happens when you get it all running and visit http://IP:Port , there is NO STATUS PAGE here. Why not? Where did the status page go? instead on IE it attempts to load sound (garbage) into the browser, and in FireFox it detects some "octet" stream instead of opening a page even.

I can't go further until the status page for 2.0 works

The next problem was the "Current Song" not displaying, but who cares about this problem when the Status page doesnt exist.

What happened to the http:// IP : Port page? how can I get that back for DNAS 2.0?

note: admin.cgi area works fine, tuning in works fine and status scripts work (less a song title)

There is no "Current Song" field on the status page, how do you add a current song? I dont see a song title anywhere atm, yp1 and yp2 turned off. Are either needed? which one will make the song titles work before having to go register hash or other things

http://65.60.19.42:8510/index.html?sid=1

I noticed that you have to enter index.html or it doesnt display, is there anyway to make index.html defaultly show when you visit http://65.60.19.42:8510 ?

also, windows .asx and real player .ram links are not working from 2.0
http://www.makeavoice.com/shoutcast/...9.42&port=8510
and
http://www.makeavoice.com/shoutcast/...9.42&port=8510

these work before 2.0, also the windows web player still works. just not connecting from windows media player

Current title is not updated until you are listed in the yp (if public=1)
this is a bug.

if you set the dnas to public=0 titles appear fine.

bugs,bugs,bugs new version is needed.

With no song title and no default status page, this is released too early to the public.
Clients/Customers are better off on the older 1.9.7/8 versions for now, I will leave them there until next release fixes atleast these 2 issues. ty

Mavmike/Jkey,

The removal of the default status page was done intentionally (by me). In the old DNAS, the base URL was overloaded. It gave you either the stream or the status page depending on the browser identifier string provided by the client entity. While this is certainly convenient for the user, it becomes a maintenance headache. Every time a new client side entity pops into existence a code change becomes required. There was, literally, a segment of code that look something like

if (browser == "Internet Explorer") showStatus
else if (browser == "opera") showStatus
else if (browser == "gecko") showStatus
else if (browser == "firefox" && version < 34) etc. etc. etc.

there was a good page full of this crap to deal with all the oddball things that came up during the years. The simplest and cleanest solution was to stop overloading the baseURL. If you want the status page you just provide the /index.html extension.

There are other behaviors that appear to be bugs, but aren't. They are just side effects of the yp2 system. For instance, some people have complained about clients being denied when using yp2. This occurs because you cannot connect a client to the DNAS until the DNAS itself successfully connects to yp2 (or the DNAS is running privately). One of the goals of YP2 was to solve the problem of station name collisions (and station name hijacking) and cleanup the mess of genre names. To resolve this, all stations must now be manually registered and this information entered on the station web pages. The DNAS must get this information from the YP2 database before it can allow any clients to connect because this information is required at client connect time by the shoutcast protocol. Hence, until the DNAS can connect to the YP2 database, no client connects are allowed.

Most of the other bugs I've seen come up in the forums seem extremely trivial (from a programming perspective. I don't doubt that it could cause extreme user inconvenience), requiring just a few minutes each to fix. AOL should just give me legal access to the code or open source it. Even if I just fixed one bug a month in my spare time, it would be a higher level of support than they are now providing.

Thanks for taking the time to explain the details of these issues.

I am told there is somebody,somewhere working on this this project.
And that something will be available at some point in the near future.

As a guess the nda that came with your employment is now no longer valid ?

I don't think Faisal will mind that I'm providing explanations and support at no cost to AOL. Nothing I said above is a state secret.

It had nothing to do with the info you were kind enough to provide.

sc_trans 2 beta 6 and Shoutcast 2

Hi,

im using sc_trans2 beta 6 and Shoutcast2. sc_trans uses Shoutcast2(uvox) (outprotocol 3) to connect to the Shoutcastserver.
If sc_trans is running as source on my Shoutcast2 statuspage i will see something like

Quote:
Current Song: Nothing Else Matters
If im Broadcasting with my streamprogramm (SAM) Shoutcast2 Statuspage shows someting like this

Quote:
Current Song: Metallica - Nothing Else Matters
Winamp always shows metatag as Interpret - Title

I have played around a bit with my sc_trans config but i cant get it work that Shoutcast2 will show Interpret - Title on Statuspage when sc_trans is broadcasting and no DJ is connected.

I have tried
uvoxnewmetadata_0=1
uvoxradiometadata_0=0
and also
uvoxnewmetadata_0=0
uvoxradiometadata_0=1

So how can i get sc_trans / Shoutcast2 showing Current Song in Interpret - Title format when sc_trans is running?

Thanks for Help

I suppose I can deal with the status page not there, but what about the Song TITLE? its just not there at all.
How to have the song titles appear before registering?
