I like the base and the textures/feel to the background, but to me the squared areas for the text seem "off" right now, they seem to leap out of the softer areas and draw attention off the smoothness of the whole; not exactly sure how much of that is the brighter color, and how much is the hard shape which opposes the flow of the rest though.

if you know why, can this be disabled now or in a future wa release.?.

How can anyone say anything against something PeaceMaker has made.
I almost feel bad that I don't like the colors

In my imagination aliens and alienslime are more greenish, not pink. But I may just have watched too many bad movies

The color of the worm doesnt match the other colors.
Besides that: BIG WOW

It hurts me.

That isn't to say it's not good. It's very good, nice work, there's just something about it...

It's evil.

style XP is not a skining software.. its just a app that hacks the uxtheme.dll that is built into windows XP its self, to make it look good, it lists the themes and such u can select.. but.. the main point is.. style xp does not skin windows.. windows skins its self.. that is why it is faster..

and window blinds interfears with it because winamp2 skins its self in the same way as windows skins its self, make a normal windows32 window and overwrite 2 messages in the wndproc... windowblinds does this also, so it interfears with it by trying to do so again..

anyway.. back on topic please.. this si a sexy skin

Deliciously disgusting. But I wouldn't download it. Dunno why. Also, the PL stacks look a little out of place. I find them a little too big.

Other than that, keep it up!

No offence, but I think the attempted symmetry really kills this skin. I's a real shame, because if it wasn't for that, this skin would be primo. Without it, it'd be a seriously fantastic skin, but as it is now, I really dislike it. But I'm not in the habit of dissing things without backing myself up with reasoning, so I figured out the 4 main reasons why I don't think the symmetry looks good:

(1)Everything is trying to look so very organic - the shapes, the textures, the colours, the lighting - yet you've tried to introduce one of the most non-organic things that there is: perfect symmetry. Visually, it just doesn't work, IMO.

(2) The centre of the skin, where the two cloned sections meet, doesn't look right. Instead of looking like a symmetrical structure, it just looks like someone plonked a mirror down in an arbitrary spot, so to speak. You should try to make the join of the two cloned sections join with more 'purpose'

(3) It looks odd that so much of the skin is perfectly symmetrical/cloned, while parts of it (the parts that have to be asymmetrical - the text, vis, eq bars, etc.) aren't. It doesn't look as much symmetrical as "tried-to-make-it-symmetrical-but-failed'. You obviously really like symmetry, but Winamp 2 can't be symmetrical, so you should go with it, rather than fight a losing battle, so to speak.

(4) The lighting. Because you've just cloned one side of the skin onto the other, the lighting is all wrong. The light sources of the left side are totally at odds with the light sources of the right side. Next time, you should paint the whole of the skin and do consistent lighting for the whole of it, rather than painting half of it and inverting and pasting it.

Also, There is a huge difference in contrast and sharpness between the millipede and the rest of the skin. As a result, the millipede looks rather 'pasted on'.

As for windowblinds, you'd probably need to edit your windowblind skin(s). You'd probably need to disable the part of the skin that affects the "file, edit, view etc." menus, or something like that.

Looking at the lighting of the 'face', I think that this combined with the 'symmetrical asymmetry' is what gives this skin it's scary appearance. I would not change it
IMHO the buttons should be lighted from above instead of from the left.

Well, sure it's his "thing", but I'm saying he could have built a whole 'symmetrical' skin, rather than building half of a skin and mirroring it, which would have eliminated the problems I pointed out in (2) and (4) above.

Ok, My Comments

1) From Conception to Execution the ideal behind a peacemaker skin is that mike flows through design in stages that rather border on the dreamless state of the subconsious. He creates something that no-one would attempt. The resulting skin in many cases as of late are skins that defy the standards of design that we all so cling to. I applaud the asymmetrical b/s.

2) I've watched this skin grow and morph becoming more and more the result of what was the 'original' inspiration.

3) The name of the skin should be SIL Peacemaker as she is still definately apart of your overall vision and design.

4) The criticism that I have seen though idealistically would have you change your style altogether and to me this would ruin the feel of the original artwork for which it comes, should be stuffed as seen fit.

Excellent Job as usual Peacemaker...Sorry I haven't been available...But, I have Time now and would love to show you my current proj. I think you would be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks.

the red is a little overwhelming, but it still looks good.

the symmetry is less apparant now(which is good)

but the smaller buttons still need a quite a bit of work for me to use them without effort.
