It might be good to add an official section for official color-edits for WA2. It could be open to the public, if there's any chance of the public making anything good, otherwise it could be a set number of official color themes.

If I remember correctly, there is a WA2 skin available that has the WA3 baseskin appearance, I could swear I've seen that discussed and linked...

Guess you mean that one:
http://classic.winamp.com/skins/deta...onentId=132101

No big color difference though.

I remember some skins pulled from / not published on classic winamp because they were just color variations of the base skin, hence not original enough.

Indeed it would be good if there was such category.

I think you'll find that the final release of WA5 will adopt the colour theme idea of WA3, it's in there and working now, no reason why gamma set themes can't be bundled with the final build , minty green was always my fave default colour..

Oh right, winamp 5... it'll accept winamp 3 and winamp 2 skins, and have color themes? That works... hopefully. If I have to update my old skins again (I'm not even done 2.9ing) I'll be flustered. Will you be able to apply color themes to existing WA2 skins automatically?

It dosn't right now, I just like to use it by default anyhow, that's not to say in the future it might use the new WA3 skin, or some hybrid of it.

You may get the 2.9 windows there:
http://www.public.asu.edu/~abarber2/wa/baseskin29b.zip

The color seems to be slightly different though, was from a pre-release:

They did, a lot of them, but they were all wiped from the database.

There is a difference between making a skin and taking a skin and applying a different color scheme.

The first one is made by a skinner, the second one is made by a R......

Even original authors might get told not to submit additional color schemes if they overdo it. Happened not very long ago.
There is no set limit on how many, but if a reviewer gets the same skin time after time with a different color, he'll get tired of it very quick, and that is the limit right there.
