chasers - yummy 3d waveforms

These all started in an attempt to replicate the motion of tracers from glowsticks, then evolved into the chasers series.

In the process it dawned on me that, d'oh, 3d rotation code can be seriously sped up by the following:

instead of:
x1 = x*sin(ang) + z*cos(ang);
y1 = y;
z1 = x*cos(ang) - z*sin(ang);

use:
snang = sin(ang);
cnang = cos(ang);
x1 = x*snang + z*cnang;
y1 = y;
z1 = x*cnang - z*snang;

this cuts the number of cos/sin functions in half. The chaser presets use a lot of rotation, and that made the differences between 30 and 60 fps. btw, they will probably run way slow on slower computers.

here's somemore from tonight.

I like portal alot... Because on my box it runs like 75 fps, but then the textured shape makes the frame rate drop to 68 and that frame rate drop makes the frame fliping more apparent, making it kinda look like when film is threaded wrong.

p.s. you have to let the portal one sit for a bit so that it darkens up.

The waveforms are awesome, but I don't like what you've done with the gamma.
The changing gamma makes the preset look alot more flickery than it really is, because the gamma changes every frame, but the waveforms are drawn on alternate frames - so it can look flickery.

If you wanted a sound-related flash effect, I'd use some threshold-detecting stuff in per-frame, save a few q variables, and send them to the custom waves to alter rgb values. If you set up the per frame code so the q values stay constant for two frames, it would look more natural, IMO.

Great work on the custom waves though. very awesome.
