Winamp slowing down reasons

Recently I have noticed that Winamp has been taking a while to load up and close down and its really annoying me. I'm curious to know why though. I guess its because my media library is becoming larger, there's prolly some other reasons why. Can you guys list some for me so I can try and fix them. Should I shrink my media library down to the necessities? Lower the transperancy options(currently default)?

Some general tips to speed up Winamp can be found here:

What exactly do you mean by 'lower the transperancy options'? Those options are off by default...

A large ML database may make things a bit slower, but I never really noticed a huge effect... How many files are we talking about?

Good Winamp plugins by Joonas, DrO and shaneh.
