studio.xnf settings not being saved on winamp exit

i read all of the following threads
i run windows xp sp2, computer stats should be unimportant but if you need them i'll post them
i am using a fresh install of 5.2 beta 430
i have tested this issue on fresh installs of 5.13 and other builds before it

my winamp.ini and studio.xnf are NOT read only, my winamp.ini updates fine when i close winamp after changing something but my studio.xnf does not
so i am unable to position windows, change color schemes, or apply certain settings related to skinning
i have checked using filemon that only the default winamp directory is being requested (c:\program files\winamp\) and that is what i use
i do not use windows washer
and i have disabled my virus scanner and microsoft antispyware while testing this issue

just to restate, winamp does not update studio.xnf, everything else works fine

*IMPORTANT EDIT*
after further testing, winamp will save the settings as long as no windows are docked (so it seems)
i have been able to successfully change color schemes, skin preferences, and window positions and sizes, but if a window is docked while i close winamp it will not save the settings

*ANOTHER EDIT*
it seems the only window that affects this is the playlist window when it is NOT in winshade mode

*YET ANOTHER EDIT*
if i dock the playlist (while not in winshade) and then close the playlist and then close winamp, studio.xnf DOES update, if i then re open winamp and turn the playlist on the playlist is still docked, and if i close winamp it does update

all very odd behavior, i think it all needs to be looked into

Sounds a lot like a very old bug which was fixed in 5.04:
Quote:
Fixed bugs

- fixed silent crash on shutdown when pledit is docked as toolbar and gen_ml unloads before gen_ff (would not remember settings from session to session)
Maybe the bug was re-introduced somehow in a later version.
I'll try to reproduce this when I get home...

im wondering if anyone else has had any luck reproducing this effect, i've been able to test it on 5 computers with winamp 5.13 and 5.2.430 and 5.2.436 and i have had this problem in the past with older 5.1x versions of winamp but i have not tested it for this purpose

I could not reproduce this...
Any difference in where and how you're docking? (right/left/top, auto-hide, etc.)

Are you using any desktop enhancing utilities?
Could you post a HijackThis log?

Could you try disabling the following utilities and see if the problem still occurs?

O4 - HKLM\..\Run: [PowerMenu] "C:\Program Files\PowerMenu\PowerMenu.exe" -hideself on
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [WinDock] C:\Program Files\WinDock\Dockload.exe
O4 - HKCU\..\Run: [STYLEXP] C:\Program Files\TGTSoft\StyleXP\StyleXP.exe -Hide

I think WinDock is the most suspicious. If not WinDock, then maybe PowerMenu...
(is it this WinDock, btw?)

If you're bored go here or, if the boredom is more serious, here.

http://www.veridicus.com/tummy/programming/powermenu/
that is power menu, a program to add some things to the context menu of my taskbar
http://www.tgtsoft.com/prod_sxp.php
that is stylexp, a program that lets me use custom visual styles

i'll try disabling them and testing this later
