If the tutorials here (El-vis', Atero's, Pak-9's) aren't good enough for you, then you can try what I did: rip apart a preset that does interest you, but doesn't scare you too far off and rip it apart to notepad and figure out what does what.

You can't expect us to start pumping knowledge into year head without some effort on your part.

There have been several 3D tutorials. Sit down and spend some time with them.

I suggest you get a million monkeys to type up random shit for you, eventually they will make the greatest preset ever and meanwhile while you wait they will make some decent stuff too.

Oh well... works for me... *shrug*

Okay, Notepad may be not neccessary. You can also write a AVS-language plugin for a program like Crimson Editor.

I'd like to appologize Matt, sometimes just this random stuff happens when we here are asked questions liked this. As you probably already know their a quite a few threads posted in this fourms that discuss 3D scoping. The finer points do usually seem a bit hard to grasp at first, but a better way to learn how to deal with them is to look at what the other threads say, look at some basic 3D presets, and if all else fails, nicely PM somone who has a very good understanding of the concept. Making a thread with the title TEACH ME!!! is just asking to be flamed, so good luck learning 3D!

//add
Another good thing to do is to search for more then one thing, instead of just searching for 3D Superscopes or something like that, try a bunch of different things like 3D coding, Superscopes, 3D, etc...

the basic problem is that the syntax of avs is pretty different from usual coordinate geometry, so asking your teacher who doesn't know it will provide no information.

There isn't an actual formula for a cube because it's not a function(well, not entirely I guess, there might be some ways to do it with some fancy 3D graphing, but it would still probably require more then one equation or some sort of uber-leetness). In your math you probably graph functions. Things like f(x)=x², or f(x)=ax²+bx+c, as the polynomial form. To make a cube in avs we can do it two ways, we either use a special formula that makes a cube like shape using the concepts of circles with limited points, or we use point-per-point superscoping. Point-per-point scoping involves setting the x,y, and z cordinate manually based on a per-point counter.
code:

::frame::
a=0;

::Pixel::
a=a+1;
x=equal(a,1)*.5+equal(a,2)*.-3...etc
y=equal(a,1)*.5+equal(a,2)*.-3...etc

Personally, I think the point-per-point version is better, the main concept behind it is using a custom counter (in my previours example, the variable A), as a custom counter value that will increase by one for each point in the scope. Using the variable A, you can then make set each indidual point to have its own X and Y and Z location. If you understand the basics of how a superscope draws a shape, you should be able to figure out how that works and how to implement that.

Actually AVS uses a fairly standard rectangular coordinate system so most geometry translates fairly easily... ask your teacher how to plot a 3D line with right handed coordinates and she'll probably give you some useful information. Then ask her how to use matrices to rotate coordinates in discreet increments and she will probably give you some more useful information.

Of course most noobs want to jump straight into coding... you need to get the fundementals of maths down first, most noobs dont even know how to manipulate a sine wave correctly.

thanks matt
You don't say what you are having trouble with? all we know is that you just dont quite get 3d. Maybe if you could be a little more specific, you might get some real help.

Sorry if i often seem rude, but you should really think about exactly what it is you want before you make a thread.

ARgh. you arn't helping yourself.

Seriously dude. You are a flame magnet. A fucking big-arse pile of dry wood and paper on a really hot day.. or something.
grrr..

If you have seriously tried to make your way through one of the many tutorials that are floating around, then you will have at least made some progress. The basic concepts are not hard at all, providing that you can speak english, which you obviously can.

If you still claim not to have a clue at all, then either: You are a literal vegetable and there is no hope for you at all, or you are flame baiting. Either way, it isnt worth anyones trouble to help you out.

However, if (and i think this is far more likely) you just think you are too good to devout some attention to a generic tutorial, when you really deserve to be given specific help just for you, among the scores of people that come here, then i think you really need to think about what you are asking for.

All you have said is "I NEED HELP WITH 3D". That doesnt tell anyone shit. so please:
  • Read tutorial(s)
  • Have a serious attempt
  • Think about where you are stuck
  • Come back here and use up your last token on this thread before it is *clunked*. BE SPECIFIC!

Thank you.

have you tried just gradually working up to 3d maths? i mean, i'm in yr 10 doing yr 10 maths and and i can do simple stuff, but eventually, if i work on it long enough i know i'll eventually be able to make the more advanced stuff. That gives me an idea. All you avs "pros" out there go back and look the the very first preset you ever made and and see how your skills have grown. Things like this take time, don't expect to learn 3d in one day!

My first preset was a fully occluded solid 3D scene.

Would you believe a 3D scope?
