He's probably in hideout by now. If they hit anyone remotly looking like Saddam it was probably a look-alike.

Actually, I think they had very inside intelligence that led them to believe it was the real Saddam. Who knows for sure, though.

Agreed, a quick assassination is infinitely better than an all out war...although according to Cnn.com:

Quote:
Hours later, a defiant Saddam, wearing a military uniform, appeared on Iraqi television to denounce the U.S.-led military campaign as "criminal" and to say his countrymen would be victorious.

"We pledge that we will confront the invaders," he said, adding Iraqi resistance would cause the coalition to "lose any hope in accomplishing what they were driven to by the criminal Zionists and others with their agendas."

In his taped speech, Saddam gave Thursday's date, March 20, as a sign it was recorded after the coalition attack

i won't believe he's dead until i see a body and conclusive dna evidence. i learned my lesson back when we went after bin laden.

this stupid 24-7 news coverage is making it so much harder to accomplish our goals. we can't really mount an unexpected attack against an enemy that knows our plans from watching tv.

i agree trigear, this damn media is like a freaking fat ass gossiping bitch that cant shut up. iraq was actually smart to kick out the cnn reporters on sat. i cant understand why our gen. and commanders talk about the missions, plans against iraq like theres nothing wrong. Is theres some logic behind this?

funny fact: did you know that Saddam Hussein started the biggest educational project in the world, learning allmost all the population to read and write in a very short time span? that Iraq because of saddams secular approach, women have/had the most liberties in allmost the entire middle east? that before the gulf war, the Iraqi population was the most well educated in the region.....

While at the same time, he used chemichal weapons on the Kurdish population killing allmost 800.000, systematicly killed politcal opponents and waged a furious war on Iran, breaking the geneva convension serveral times

hmmmm that dictator is a very weird man.....
