Adding mp4 to video library?

I've just switched from itunes to winamp, because itunes isn't able to sync my ipod classic on my new win 7 x64 OS. I've been able to add video files to winamp, and they are synced to my ipod, no problem. These files are m4v. Some other files I have that are mp4 (which is exactly the same thing right?) will not add properly. They appear in the audio library, and are also transferred to the music folder on my ipod, which means that I can't play them on my ipod.

I'm guessing this is a n00b question, but please help.
