Volume Lock

Would be nice if there was an option to lock the volume control at a certain setting. That way when jumping back and forth between windows the volume isn't inadvertanly changed when using the mouse scroll wheel and Winamp has the focus.

I am getting that too. Never happened with the old WinAmp so I was really surprised the first time it happened.
I use WindowShadeMode about 99% of the time.

Go to your directsound and .wav out options and disable the volume change options. That'll fix you right up

handholding

Ah, took me a sec to understand. To add some verbosity:

1) right-click the main Winamp window and choose "Options|Preferences" (or type Ctrl+P)

2) select "Plugins|Output" in the Preferences window's left-hand navigation pane

3) select "Nullsoft DirectSound Output vX.XX" in main pane and click "Configure" button (or doubleclick "Nullsoft DirectSound Output vX.XX")

4) in NullSoft DirectSound Output Settings' "Options" tab, deactivate the "Enable volume control" checkbox and click OK

5) select "Nullsoft WaveOut Output vX.XX" in main pane and click "Configure" button (or doubleclick "Nullsoft WaveOut Output vX.XX")

6) in NullSoft WaveOut Output Settings, deactivate the "Enable" checkbox and click OK

7) close the Preferences window

It's much easy to install the latest patched version (http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=373755) and use the "Prevent mouse wheel from altering the volume" option on the General Preferences tab in the Winamp Preferences.

Winamp Pro 5.666.3516 fully-patched - Komodo X Touchscreen by Victhor skin
Windows 10 Home 64-bit desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system
