Winamp labeling most songs as Psychobilly

Hello, a few days ago, I updated from Winamp v5.666 to 5.8 (Actually, I'm not sure what version I had previously, but I think it was 5.666).

For the past few days, every time I've added a new song, Winamp sets the genre to Psychobilly for some reason and I don't know why. Usually, I just go into the metadata and delete it. As of today, I'm now having an issue where I can't even remove it anymore. I check the metadata for the affected songs (In both Winamp and Windows Explorer) and the genre section is blank, but yet Winamp still displays songs as Psychobilly at the top.

Now, almost every song is labeled as Psychobilly; even songs that were added before I updated Winamp. There are a few songs in particular that don't have the Psychobilly genre labeling, however.

Funny, I have seen the psychobilly label too, very strange. Luckily, not to your degree.

Winamp should not be assigning it randomly and certainly should not keep u from changing it.

Can u run mp3tag and see what ver tags u are using? 1.1? 2.2? 2.3? 2.4?

Version v2.86. I downloaded MP3Tag a while back, but ultimately never really used it except once.

They're all ID3v2.3. They're not all consistent, though. Most of them are "ID3v2.3 (ID3v1 ID3v2.3)" and a few of them are "ID3v2.3 (IDv2.3)."

The ones marked "ID3v2.3 (IDv2.3)" are also the same songs that don't have Psychobilly.

Indeed. This is what I suspected...

It seems Winamp has a problem with id3v1.x tags now. That's a new bug. But it's also why I always suggest deleting v1 tags, to avoid issues like this.

Mass strip ur files of v1 tags, and I bet ur issues are fixed.

Alright, removing v1 tags seemed to do the trick. Thanks.
