How is this virus affecting you?

Anyone diagnosed with covid 19?

Anyone not allowed to work?

Just curious.

I work at a school, and our kids and staff aren't allowed in the buildings. We have to work through correspondence such as emails, paperwork, online conferencing and teaming platforms, phone, text, etc. We volunteered to deliver thousands of meals to our students that have financial need. Other than that, we're still pretty healthy here.

Please let me know you all are ok. I don't come here often, but that doesn't mean you aren't important to me.

I'm in a high risk group and I've been placed into lockdown for 12 weeks (maybe longer) by my GP because of health conditions.

I'm not working because of afore mentioned health issues.

Most Schools/Colleges/universities in the UK are closed right now.

Its a worrying time I just hope it doesn't hit as bad as they fear it might.

My father and sister, last surviving members of my family, are both in vulnerable groups and are in lockdown. I'm looking after my father effectively, but since work is all online it's relatively easy to keep things going.

Worried what will happen when people's money starts to run out though, I rather suspect fripperies like supporting a streamer won't be a priority.

Hospital here has already had a couple of cases, at least last time i heard - probably a lot more now I guess.

ShyShy is in the same boat. Not the lockdown, but the conditions, high risk and no work.

I've been working from home since last week. Will continue to do so until either Shy contracts the bug and we work through that, or the bug's presence becomes normalised in society and we all get on with our lives, just with more masks and Purell.

I think Australia's had ~20 deaths and about 2,000 cases. Nobody I know.

PLUS today's my birthday, yay. I completely forgot it was coming up, until I was rudely awoken by my brother calling me at 7.30 am. Rude.

Thanks for the ask.
I am a new user here,
but as far as this situation is concern, the world is at the same platform right now and everybody is dealing with the same problems in their lives.
However me and my family is fine, but I am little bit scared because my two of the colleagues were diagnosed with it and one of them is in critical condition.
May God bless all of us in these circumstances

Safe here.

I work from home like most of us do. We're cautious (keep a meter and a half distance from people) but there's nothing crazy going on here. I still walk the dog and do most of our shopping.
A complete lockdown is useless anyway; you've got to come out eventually anyway.
I find it surprising and refreshing to see how flexible our community can be if it's needed and the solutions people can come up with.

Happy birthday man, I hope you're able to celebrate it at least a bit somehow.

Everybody is suffering due to the pandemic.

Some have contracted the virus and are fighting for life. Some are in quarantine. Many are in Lockdown. Rest are just afraid due to the panic.

But, best way to deal is keep calm, employ social distancing, keep sanitation and hygiene.

I employ social distancing even when there isn't a pandemic... I rarely socialise as it is.

Only people I have coming here are neighbours who do favours for me.

Safe here, but Italy as a whole isn't.

Been self quarantining for a month and a half, always wash my hands with some disinfectant, but that should come naturally despite the virus. Worked at a rest home and got "fired" before this whole mess started.

This virus pandemic is starting to do weird things to my mind. Being stuck at home for 12 weeks isn't great.

Only about 2 weeks in and I'm already running out of things to occupy my time.

Which reminds me I have the RaspberryPi4 to have a tinker with at some point.

This quarantine thing has been good until recently since I live in a place where you could easily stay busy for eternity. However, my 7-year-old beat me at poker 3 hands in a row. Even when I had a full house queens over 6s she had 4 of a kind. She won most of my Easter M&Ms.

the only effect it has on me at this time is that i'm more relaxed than i ever been, having so much more time on my hands is working out perfectly , sleeping late and yet still on time to start the job everyday
being home just 2 min after closing down the work PC.

already did several things around the house that should have been done years ago.
I even worked in the garden ( haven't done that in 4 years)

I wish I could relax... I'm still petrified of getting it even though I'm isolating.

I'm running out of things to do in this flat. Everything is on hold until whenever now. My decorator is self isolating,

Our state, West Virginia, USA finally declared that schools are closed for the remainder of the school year. That's kinda hard on us because we miss our students and they miss us and each other. There have been a few gimmicks every once in a while like the creation of slideshows to music floating around social media with captioned pictures of us and vehicle parades to show support of each other along with virtual video talent shows... Other than that it's been video chat through Microsoft Teams or Google Hangouts and other platforms such as our grading program the Remind app (group texting/picture sharing without sharing private phone numbers) and email.

One thing I noticed is that many of my colleagues have changed and mostly expanded their work hours to where I'm getting digital communication around the clock rather than just during the traditional 8-10 hour work day. Anyone else seeing that?

Also, NJK brings up a good point - the reduction in commute time is quite convenient.

-edit - also, that's a good suggestion to ask my daughter what's going on and how she can see whether I have a good hand at cards or not. I'm pretty good at cards when playing adults, but I think children and pets seem to be better judges of non-verbal cues. And you're right, my wife probably wouldn't disclose what she knew since she wouldn't want me masking it in a way that she'd lose the advantages that are associated with reading someone.

edit 2 - ...not that I'm playing cards with pets...

I guess they work different hours because they also need to take care of their kids? At least that's what I see around me: one parent is working while the other looks after the kids and then they switch shifts...

I can imagine you miss your students, yes...

A few of my colleagues are working odd hours, too; for some it's to take care of kids, while others just seem to prefer working earlier/later than the standard set of hours, when they have the option.

I'm in my city office today – taking a day off from working from home. It's quiet here.

Aye aye, thought I'd say hello, *waves at jaz*

Crisis? I've been deemed to be a key worker due to working in the 'food' industry and if it's one thing this crisis has highlighted is that if the virus don't kill you then the vast majority of the population seem intent on drinking themselves to death , our sales figures are 300/400 % up on the same time frame last year, so yeah, next time you are drinking yourself into a stupor in front of Netflix, because 'nothing else to do on lockdown' think of poor cunts like me working to put the beer in your bottle eh.

Oh and I've not seen my missus now other than on facetime for about a month given our living arrangements, so as you can imagine I'm feeling a bit tetchy.

Other than that, doing just fucking dandy.

Just how it is mate when you live 50 miles apart and have very different life and work styles when you meet, it's what the weekends were made for, however that all falls apart when you're told you can't travel if it's not essential, plus she needs to be close by for her elderly mother whose been locked in her bunker for coming up 14 weeks or so now.

We have thought about risking visiting each other, after all we are our own seperate 'bubbles', but knowing our luck one of us would get pulled by the coppers and that'd be that.

And yeah, the police are pulling folk, if it's one thing this has shown is the utter stupidity of some folk, like the bikers who got pulled near me the other day who were making a 200 mile round trip for some costal fish and chips, I'd take the vote off wankers like that, maybe put their kids into care as well.

at least you get a new computer , once on site you have a new play thingy and it will keep you busy for a while.

got a new TV , 43 inch 4 K same issue, would normally never buy this when the old one is still working , but since we don't go on holiday as planned , the replacement is much cheaper , we could use the money otherwise

Funny that, I'm the exact opposite, don't seem to have spent barely a penny since this started other than on food to keep going, looked at my bank balance after I got paid last month and thought it was some kind of mistake and I'd been paid double or summat.

I plan on being the richest man in the cemetery when I eventually succumb to a dose of the plague.

I had a bit of spare cash. My husband died in January and its money from his death in service payment from his employers.

I'm not over spending i worry about food like hell at the moment because I'm not able to get out. I'm just about coping with a delivery once a week from the supermarket (I'm on the vulnerable list)

I try not to think about Covid and what its doing to huge swathes of the population. I've stopped watching the news it depresses me.

once 1 week

on saturday morning i goto the bakery and collect our weekly supply of bread , than goto the radio studio of the local radio station and do a 3 hour show
and that is all. the rest of the week i work from home and spend time in the garden.
luckly for me , 10 meters behind the house and 10 in front of the house.

Wow... we've got some old timers up in here!

Hola all!

Largely unaffected, but greatly impacted here. My wife is a care giver and I'm a scientist for a medical device company. We both are deemed critical, so it's work as usual.

Highly stressful work.

The hospital my wife works in obvious has covid and there are been numerous cases at my company. Both of our respective employers are going a great job at containing, contact tracing, and isolation. But ... did I mention it's stressful AF to work under these conditions. Oh, yeah, its assumed, and correct, that neither one of us have proper PPE. The group my wife works for ran out in under 9 days (and she's a neurosurgeon, so they aren't necessarily the first line) and my employer never had any.

Did I mention the stress?

On ... and add to it homeschooling our kids through this (I can't lie, we've had to hire folks to do it for us because we have to report to work). Both my parents were teachers and my wife's mother was a teacher ... so we have always had respect for professionals in the field.

But swingdjted, this has taken it to a whole new level... THANK YOU FOR ALL YOU DO!!!!

I'm starting to get very worried about the post covid economy. I'm thankful my wife and I are still gainfully employed and we are trying to pay it back by supporting what ever local business we can.

Aside from the to and from work... yeah, we won't leave the house...

The Bugger has bitten me... I've been ill in bed all weekend.

GP reckons from the symptoms that its possibly covid19.

Typical mass pandemic and i get it... I had swine flu back in 2009 that wasn't a barrel of fun and neither is this...
