Can't get KDWN

I am able to open radio station KDWN Las Vegas using VLC but not Winamp. In a browser, it uses a streamtheworld player. I got the URL for the stream from sniffing via Proxomitron when connecting through the browser.

I tried adding .wma to the URL, with no luck.

When connected by VLC, netstat shows a http connection to the same servr as in the original URL. I think this is the first time Winamp won't open something another player will. Does this URL open for anybody in Winamp? If so, is there something I can do to make it open for me? TIA.

Sorry. I don't understand the way the forum handles URLS. They seem to be removed. Here are the addresses again without the http

OK a few days late, but I was able figure this one out. Try the following alternative address

Link -----------> KDWN

Copy&Paste ---> http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/KDWNAM.pls

Please do not PM me for tech support. Any request for tech support through PM will be ignored.

Thanks

Thanks for this! I'm glad I happened to check this thread again. I should have been able to get this myself, because I have had a lot of these "provisioning.streamworld" pls's in past years for other stations. I got a bunch a few years ago for the CBS all news stations in NYC, San Fran, LA etc. So all streamworld streams should be checked by substituting the call letters for the station you want.

I'm wondering why these streams are there. Are they there for standalone radios? If so, they seem to be kept pretty quiet. The ones for the all news stations have this for the call letters: "WINSAMDIALUP" They still work even though they are now about 4-5 years old.

How did you find this URL? Thanks again.

You're Welcome

It is basically what you had mentioned about substituting the call letters. The idea came to me after doing a search for an alternative address for a different StreamTheWorld station.
