Which Winamp version is best for ripping?

Which Winamp version is best for ripping music to .mp3?

Or are the mp3 encoding algorithms all the same across versions?

Also, what kind of cd-player should I use for ripping? Does using an accurate high-end CD / DVD burner make a difference?

Using EAC and CDs in the accurip database, you can calibrate the read offset of your optical drive.
You also have the ability to detect the gaps correctly, so tracks are cut properly, with or without the extra digital silence (you choice).
Don't rip as full speed. Low speeds will suffer less from vibration.

Use Winamp to rip CDs only if you have to.

Mashups ? Smells like a lot of "Fishy Business" to me.
