I'm currently having problems with a few of my servers, just wondering if anyone else is? Mine still is giving errors for not resolving to yp.shoutcast.com. I heard earlier that servers were starting to resolve, hope I'm not the only one.

I too am wondering if this is the cause for the inability to resolve yp.shoutcast.com. I've pretty much removed all the hair from my head tweaking my server trying to find out that with two identical server setups one resolves and works fine and the other just doesn't.

Actually, only a part of my clusters are appearing.

I've restarted (almost) all the servers last night (3:00 AM, GMT+1), but some of them are still unlisted (Even some I restarted).

Is it needed to restart *ALL* the cluster's server to get *ALL* listed ?

Yes, you will have to restart ALL servers together.

I won't guarantee that that will work for everyone all the time.

Actually, YP should be clustering automatically now, no?

Hi- newbie here. Just a quick question to anyone who cares to give me an answer.

I have a server running and a relay server elseware. My relay is picking up the server and is displaying on the YP but my main server isn't showing at all. From what I can gather the two should appear together as a cluster? is this right? If so, any reason why my initial server isn't showing?

any advice would be appriciated.

many thanks
BDM

Well, YP is "locked" indeed. But at least the "Tune-Ins" work! That's what matters most! So we still get listeners.

But if you were trying to get your servers to recluster, well, that won't matter much for now.

mho... WinAmp, Shoutcast and AOL-TW are lucky to have thousands of free advertisers by way of the people who stream thru WinAmp Shoutcast and recommend it. Providing the above mention companies with millions in free company promotion. I have promoted WinAmp since first beta version and AOL since 1.0. AOL member since 1989. Back when AOL had about 30,000+- members. I love WinAmp software but this past two weeks using Shout Cast oh my... And the web site... Try to get them to resend a password... I tried following a few links from the FAQs and dead... Yes I emailed the web master and said what I found wrong... sorry but what a bumpy road the site has had switching to php. And yes...

The database goes nuts when there's a lot of active folks.

This was recently most noticed during the few days of Winamp's 5.0 release.

Just Wondering About The Status of......

Just checking in to get the status of the YP and the system. Any new developments? Haven't heard any new info in a couple of days. It worked great 2 days ago. Then, yesterday, I couldn't get my station listed. Just wanting to hear the latest.

One major point I just have to make...

at least one of these mods have helped each and every one of you. Now why would you be taking something so small like a non-refreshing page out on them?!? Reality check people, not everything can go your way, especially when you're using a free service. You should be thanking the team, for helping you through tough times... I mean, you're using a great free service, so why complain, bitch, and whine?? That's my 2 cents!

Hope my statements weren't taken as a slam just more fact than anything... One good thing it must have done was push more than a few to learn how to link up their station without using the listing. Education is always a good thing. Now if someone would teach me how to get 1000 people to sign on at one time

Q: How do I ilnk to my DNAS?
A: Please enjoy link bot.

DNAS link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://yourDNASip:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Replace yourDNASip with the ip of the DNAS (SHOUTcast server) and yourDNASport with the DNAS port (default is 8000)

Example:
If your DNAS ip is 123.345.567.789 and your DNAS portBase is 2112, then your links would be:
DNAS link: http://123.345.567.789:2112
Listen link: http://123.345.567.789:2112/listen.pls

Also, if your router doesn't support local loopback then machines on the same lan as the DNAS (you) need to use the lan ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.
Machines not on the same lan as the DNAS (the rest of the world) need to use the real, world-visible ip of the DNAS to connect/listen.

Please don't give out urls with 127.0.0.1 as the ip. That is a local loopback ip.
See RFC3330 for more information.

Please don't give out urls with 192.168.x.y or 10.x.y.z or 172.(16-31).x.y as the ip. That is a private lan ip.
See RFC1918 for more information. Scroll down and look for the section titled:
3. Private Address Space

How to find your ip address (Part I).
How to find your ip address (Part II).

Finally, you can get a static name, such as foo.bar.com (not as cool as that, though ) from http://www.no-ip.com or one of the other myriad of Dynamic DNS Services.
Then, your links would be:
DNAS link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport
Listen link: http://foo.bar.com:yourDNASport/listen.pls

Please read some polite advice.

Fixed for me. Seems that I found a good yp.shoutcast.com to touch for me. Instead letting my DNAS server resolve yp.shoutcast.com every time, I added [205.188.234.120 yp.shoutcast.com] to the hosts file in my \Windows\system32\drivers\etc\ folder so my DNAS server always touches this 205.188.234.120 server that seems to work great, instead of touching the other yp.shoutcast.com (207.200.98.25) that seems faulty.

Cannot be 100% sure of this, but it is working for me now..
