Streaming problem

Hello,
if I turn off the radio in Winamp, internet data is still downloading, even when I disable winamp completely. The problem started today. I have a version 5.666.3516
Over other players is all ok. I've also tried reinstalling winamp, but did not help.
Ideas? thank you very much

Yes, I am playing a stream and then stop.
Launched just winamp, network activity is zero, and just when I turn on the stream, and then I turn off the stream network activity continues to run (the data is still downloading). Makes it most radios, but some do not. The same radios I tried the other players, and everything is ok, network activity after turn off the stream is zero. I have tried it several times.
Winamp installed on the Administrators account.

from checking the report is that you've not applied the dll patches from http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=156839#known2

there's nothing else in the install that jumps out as you're not using a skin which can cause the now playing component to be automatically triggered. and there's no reason for streams to persist pulling content down when stopped as that's just now how the Winamp plug-ins work.

you say that it only happens with some streams, can you provide an example of one that does and one that doesn't cause the issue for you please.

nscrt.dll is the precursor to what's in the Microsoft.VC90.CRT folder (shared runtime for the compiler version we use). it was dropped around the 5.57x era and the only current thing which still needs it is mc.exe (the maki compiler) as everything else which is current (Winamp or Source DSP) doesn't need it.

I have now updated dll in mp3, jumex dll and notofier png?

Well, for example, these streams
http://hu.ah.fm:9000
http://109.201.135.64:8128
http://hathor.discovertrance.com:8006/
http://s01.toksyna.fm:8030/
http://212.83.148.215:5004

are always ok, I do not know if it's coincidence, but they run on servers Shoutcast 1.9.8.

other streams, such as Shoutcast 2.2.1.109
http://relay1.hirschmilch.de:7000/prog-house.mp3
http://stream.friskyradio.com:8000/frisky_aac_hi

or even Icecast streams 2.3.2 (http://chi1.party107.com/Party107-192k) 2.3.3 already have a problem. but I happen to have worked ok.

I said maybe a coincidence, but streams on 1.9.8 still go ok, but now 22.35 CET icecast is also ok, and it all streams from icecast.

i've tried them and am not seeing the issue with any of those streams. at least not that i'm able to determine / see from what XP is able to indicate.

though i'm still not 100% sure that i'm following what you're describing as i'm not entirely sure what you mean by "even when I disable winamp completely"

All streams are ok over other players, only with Winamp is a problem since yesterday.

I think, Disable Winamp - Winamp close - kill procces Winamp.exe .... and still downloading data .... this is not normal

if the Winamp process is definitely closed i.e. it's not shown in the task manager, it's not Winamp doing it (definitely not any of the native code).

maybe there's something else on your setup which hooks into Winamp or detects Winamp is running and does things even after the Winamp process has been closed. maybe look for anything else being started when the Winamp process is started (but there's nothing i can work out what it might be from your info report).

otherwise, you maybe able to work out what's causing the network usage from a network monitoring tool (not sure if sysinternals have something to do that or you could use something like wireshark) and try to work it out from there.

I used wireshark.

It is seen that if I run stream http://stream.friskyradio.com:8000/frisky_aac_hi, this connects to the address 50.7.64.226 and when I stop the stream, wireshark still shows downloading data from the same address. Now even twice, that is, the two times the same stream (stream is 128 kbps, that is 16 kbyte / s, and data downloading 32 kbytes / s..omg)

If I turn on the stream, which I have no problems, Wireshark shows the connection stopped, and data not downloading.

I really do not know already, I'll probably have to ask someone knowledgeable on the networks. This is the mystery.

i can only go on what you're saying and the information at hand and based on what i know of the Winamp and with the v2 DNAS streams, how that version of the DNAS works.

and what you're describing makes absolutely no sense to me with how either of them work unless something else is connecting to the server as well as Winamp at the time. but what i do not know (as you'd know far better what is installed on your machine) as none of the code i know is in those versions should be able to do it (especially when Winamp isn't even loaded - hence why i think there has to be something else going on and causing the connection to persist / double-up).

Data is still downloading, because the connection is stuck in a state "fin wait 2". Identified from process explorer.

Something I have found about it, but that does not help me much yet.

Oh, the problem is in the Web Protection my antivirus program.

If I disable Web protection, everything is fine. I'm going to tackle with their support.

Thanks for your time and answers

Same issue here and it seems this is AVG. Is AVG inactive then all is fine... strange! oO
Do you have get a response from AVG to this issue?

Currently is it much harder. For fews day ago the connection was closed, if i have load a mp3 file or simply another stream but currently the connection is still allive, if i have closed winamp. Only solution disable AVG and re-anable it. I have it tested also with VLC and Mediaplayer but there isn't this issue.

I have now also tried to contact the support. I'm using AVG Free since some years without problems like this and it would be sad to start a suite change.
