Winamp doesn't memorize covers anymore V5.65

Hi,

In a custom view personalized with large icons.

Winamp 5.65 doesn't memorize covers anymore, covers are in folders, never had this problem.
Winamp find the covers but each times.
Winamp 5.65 rescan each times launched to search the covers, usually all covers are memorized.

I verified all options, i can't find the problem.

If somebody knows that
Thank you

Sorry for my English

TERRY

Hi TERRY VY,

Winamp still creates cover art caches. When you first start Winamp and switch to a multiple cover view it does take a little time (depending on the speed of your computer hardware components) to display the covers the first time. If you switch to another view and then switch back, the display of covers should be almost instant.

Or are you seeing something else?

Each time the view change or Winamp launched again the covers are scanned.

I have to scroll down in the custom view to wait the covers appear, screen by screen.

Before the 5.65 the covers were memorzed. Now each time it's like the first scan.

Do you know the real full name of the file cache?

Is there any options to activate it?

Tks

There are .dat files and .idx files named art, art_60, art_90, and art_120. I assume you know what folder they should be in, since you have not said what version of Windows you're using I don't want to guess. These files are maintained automatically depending on the icon sizes used and there are no activation options.

As I said, the first time a cover is displayed in a new Winamp session it has to be rendered (while takes a little time). Then the cover is stored in RAM, so the next time it needs to be displayed in the same session is almost instant.

So yes, the first time you scroll through there is a delay. But there should not be a delay the next time in the same session.

All files are no more accessed

Before even with turning off computer and start it, the covers were displayed instantly.

The scan started only when i chose rescan folder in prefs to update it.

Use Koopa's Winamp Info Tool v4.2 beta (link below) to create an extended report of your current configuration. If the configuration and user data folders are not what/where they should be, you could try reinstalling.

I don't understand the multiple time stamps. When Winamp is shutdown, you can delete those files (maybe they're corrupted). They will be recreated as needed.

The art files are updated when covers are displayed. Rescanning the media library only updates metadata changes from the tags in your files (and/or from file name changes if you have metadata guessing enabled in the preferences).

About my post of the files : The first is the modified date the second is the creation date.

The paths seems to be OK

I will uninstall, verif the registry and remaining files and data if the uninstall is not clean.

Thank you

A normal uninstall will not delete the configuration and user data files. They have to be removed manually. Make a backup of what you don't need or want to recreate (like the media library, history, etc).

The uninstall ask delete prefs etc, i uninstalled all.

Better, much better but i stil have the time to see empty covers before the pictures appear.
In session change view, the hidden covers on screen; in launch again, all covers.
The data files art are accessed again by winamp

Before it was like all covers were more instanly, pehaps i'm wrong.

This is not my rig, with winamp running, in fact i use it almost all times, hum hum, i launch music while i work with other softwares like graphics, in this case i c'ant reach 15% of CPU and can't reach 20% of the memory. Despite some are voracious in ressources.
Win 8 Pro 64 Screen 2560X1140.

I asked the question cause it is so long to cutomize again like i want.
I don't know why it stopped accessing the cache files.
Actually it's cool, it is not like it scan the folder again and again. It's juste a split second.

Winamp still the best, no hidden services, clean, do what user want, powerful.
I wait, i waiting for a 64 bits version...

Thank you, for replied me so quick too.

You're welcome. All's well that ends well. I assume you have a high end graphics card, that's a lot of pixels to push.
