Yay! Another hardware thread.

Since everybody loves those, any comments on this set up?
(goal: quiet system with lotsa RAM for not too much money)

Case: Antec Solo (quiet, nifty HD suspension and not nearly as fugly as 90% of cases)
PSU: Seasonic S12II-380
Mobo: Gigabyte GA-P35 DS3P (need Firewire)
CPU: Core 2 Duo E8400 (since it doesn't cost much more than the 8200)
Cooler: Scythe Ninja Rev. B (passive if possible, should work with two 12cm fans next to it)*
HD: WD Caviar SE16 750GB
RAM: 2*2GB Transcend PC2-6400U CL5 (any benefits in using more expensive RAM if I'm not out for ultimate performance?)
Graphics card: Gigabyte Geforce 8500GT (GV-NX85T256H, also passively cooled)
DVD-RW: Pioneer DVR-215 (though from looking at reviews it seems all current DVD writers are cheap rubbish so I might as well pick the cheapest I can find and hope it works (has to be SATA though, right?))

*otoh I've got no idea how loud the current stock cooler is, and whether it would even make much of a difference noise-wise

Actually, looks like a pretty good system, except for this...

Now this is only my "personal" preference, but that Antec Solo case is a bit too dull for me. I prefer modded/innovative cases such as these or these.

Other than that, if you want to keep the expenses down, a pretty good system, gaekwad!

btw... talking about an "innovative" case, howz about this?
