Input needed for research

I am doing informal reseach on the aspects of People
US
Being only one person is tough
ONLY one perspective
and brain
GODONCRACK needs YOU!!!!!!!!!
First off
Groups
When people gather together they form groups
This group can be thought of as a single entity
"Mob Mentatlity" and such
How can someone else control you?!?!?!
Actually get you to, i dont know, lob a molitov cocktail at a cop at a demonstration or partake in a riot, rip a truck driver out of his cab, and beat him in the head with a brick
No gun to the head or other death threats
But you probably would do them if you were in those people's shoes
Groups influence people
How?!?!?!
I have my own thoughts on this.
But i'd like to see yours
I'll give you a treat

Mob mentality only applies to very large groups (a lot more than 3 or 4 people) who have all become emotionally charged, like very angry.

WRONG! . My best example is the show scare tactics. They had a group of people who they tested to see who is most likely to beleive something first, and who is more likely to look for a logical explination first. They sent this group out into the desert on some sort of fake mision, and they staged a UFO crash. What it showed that even though there was only 5 people, and 3 of them were the "beleiev first, questions later" idea, the fact that they thought this, and were so adamint abou t"knowing" that they had just seen a UFO crash that even the "rational" people beleievd it too. They groub mentality set it even on a small group.

I regard anyone who relies on others' opinions and cannot form their own as weak.

I am so important I feel the need to let it be known like a liberal discovering the internets for the first time. Uh hur hur hur. I also wash myself with a rag on a stick.

rather than mob mentality, i would call it peer presure. a boy in my school set light to a field before the holidays. he said he was forced to do it by some older boys and didn't know what he was doing. he suffered no injuries yet couldn't remember what happened.

this happens all the time. if you see a large group of people all crouding round looking at somthing, there is this subconsious urge that makes you go over there and have a look. in my opinion, this isn't because someone else is forcing you to do this, its because you want to be part of the majority. no one likes to be alone in there opinion, unless you feel strongly about not being liked within a group, or being different. in my school, when a product is bought by a certain few people, and then everybody else buys it because they want to be like those people, its called a craze. people will buy things that they might otherwise think as being stupid or a waste of money. i think this happens with thoughts too.

i stay out of crazes most of the time, unless i think the product is actually worth buying. this means that people don't like me for a bit, but i end up the one with more money at the end of the day.

fate controls people, not groups.

I do not get influenced by crowds. I consciously make all of my own decisions - I don't let others tell me what to do.

I dont need someone elses opinion.
I want different ones. I already know mine
If you didn't see that
Learn to read
Groups have two properties:quantiy and composition
who and how many
I change based on who and how many is/are around me
If i'm in a room full of.......mid east terrorists
You will see an animal engaging in a blood orgy
Room with...the band Tool
Completly different
Also some people like small groups and some like alot of people around them
While i know this
I am curious as to emtional and physical changes
Can you be affected on a subconscious level by group interaction?
comments, suggestions, hate
its all pink in the middle

the answer is simple really..Acceptance. No one wishes to be alienated or seen to be the odd one out. If say in the U.F.O. example above 1 had 'Questioned First' accepted later, that person would have been subjected to ridicule, amongst other's.
In larger groups it would be fool hardy say in the example of a room full of Terroists (Mid East removed on purpose) Then it would absolutely stupid (And probably deadly) to stand up and say 'Now hang on guy's lets think about this"?

Simple answer to your question is Acceptance ,

btw hello

Studies on suicide say that it may be caused by society
Who usually commits suicide;loners,drug-addicts,etc.
Loners have few friends,do very few importent things for society, stay away from groups, and all that comes with bein a loner.
They get depressed. Thoughts form. REALLLLLLY BAD THOUGHTS.
I have known these thoughts.
They fill there is no point to living or any continuece of there life.
Back in the DAY. when we lived in tribes, you really had no choice but to participate in the whole group thing
I don't have figures, but i'm willing to bet that suicide rates were low.
Now, we don't have to.
Could the brain have evolved to NEED to be in and around groups?
And if not, then its existance is harmful(if you don't help, you hurt)
and not needed.
suicide switch?????????
Cruel but thats nature.
I have seen this.
Researched this.
Not the only cause of people offin themselves for no good damn reason
But a big one.
this tells me that society, groups, are important to the physical well-being of people.
this is an opinion, and only an opinion
albeit a well researched one
i wonder if acceptance does hold a role
many loners don't bite the bullet
these are around other loners
thus are no longer alone but just depressed
hmmmmmmm.......
i will test this new therory
Thanks Smeggle
