7 billion people by October

(Reuters) - The world's population is projected to pass 7 billion on October 31 as it heads toward 10 billion or more by the end of the century, a new U.N. report said on Tuesday.

This is weird, because we are kind of screwed. Populations of the "third world" are on the increase. Populations of "the west" and China are on the decline.

Nations face a delicate balance between high fertility and booming populations, which strain food and other resources, and low fertility, which leads to aging populations and stress on social services, as some European states are already finding.
It might not have been such a good thing that the United States aborted 50 million babies since the 1970's.
