- Winamp 5.9 (5.90.0.9999) - clean install
- Active Winamp Language Pack (English) - Intel Core (TM) i5-10210U CPU @ 1.60 GHz 2.11 GHz - Windows 10, Version 21H2, English - Intel UHD Graphics (Intel corp. 30.0.101.1404) - Realtek Audio (drv. 6.0.9341.1) ==== Two issues 1. After first install all seems to be ok, but after first computer shutdown/restart WinAMP does not play the file you DoubleClick in system and always show the list of files that left from previous run 2. If you open PowerAMP (even not playing file) Windows cannot be correctly shutdown/restarted as WinAMP cannot be automatically closed (need to force stopping of WinAMP) |

this bug happens in any system compatible.
HTTPS streams fails to play (from m3u files) at first attempt with double click and the following message is visible in the playlist window "(connecting to host)", but if you do another double click then it connects and plays the stream normally. |

Incompatible streams (This should not be!)
Hello DJ Egg,
- WINAMP v5.9.0 Build 9999 (x86) - clean install - Active Winamp Language Pack - Default English - System Specs - ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS, AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad-Core Processor, RAM 4.00 GB - Windows OS - Windows 7 SP1 32-Bit English - Video card + drivers version - ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics - 8.850.0.0 - Sound card/chip + drivers version - Realtek High Definition Audio - 6.0.1.6526 I have just upgraded to v5.9.0 Build 9999 from WINAMP Pro 5.666 Build 3516. I use WINAMP as my streaming radio station player and have noticed that there are problems playing certain station streams in WINAMP. Below are five stream links that all play just fine in the current Firefox, but not at all in WINAMP. Kohina code: X13 Radio - Funk Music [codel]http://x13.streamguys1.com/x13-funkmusic[/code] or code: HBR1 - Trance code: LAOldies K-Surf 105.1 FM code: The first three links above also failed to work in WINAMP Pro 5.666 Build 3516. The "HBR1" and "LAOldies" links I believe are regressions in WINAMP v5.9.0 Build 9999. I can not confirm this since I no longer have WINAMP Pro 5.666 Build 3516 installed to check. There seems to be, in my opinion, general incompatibility with WINAMP and streams that are hosted on Icecast servers (.ogg streams) and additionally issues connecting to streams that are using "https://" secure connections. In the past I had many streams fail to function when using "https://" but work just fine after removing the "s" to produce an "http://" stream address. This technique does not work on all streams, where they only will function with "https://" and not on "http://" when tested in Firefox. Unfortunately I did not keep track of all of the streams which failed to load in WINAMP since there was no support being provided to fix bugs in WINAMP, until now! I hope that you can fix the bugs with WINAMP working with "https://" streams and ".ogg" streams. "https://" streams are basically the way of the future and more will be coming that only support "https://" and not "http://." So consider the bug to be of concern and not a non issue. Thanks for you assistance in this matter, Michael |

XML predefined entity names in the current song title
Hello DJ Egg,
- WINAMP v5.9.0 Build 9999 (x86) - clean install - Active Winamp Language Pack - Default English - System Specs - ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS, AMD FX(tm)-4130 Quad-Core Processor, RAM 4.00 GB - Windows OS - Windows 7 SP1 32-Bit English - Video card + drivers version - ATI Radeon 3000 Graphics - 8.850.0.0 - Sound card/chip + drivers version - Realtek High Definition Audio - 6.0.1.6526 (The following applies to WINAMP v5.9.0 Build 9999 as well as earlier versions) In the current song title, which can be seen in the following places... • WINAMP main window scrolling text • WINAMP PLAYLIST track title • WINAMP PLAYLIST > right click View file info... > Metadata > Playing field • WINAMP PLAYLIST > right click View file info... > Status > Current title: ..., I have seen the inclusion of XML predefined entity names in the text. The five entity names are as follows... Names 1. " 2. & 3. ' 4. < 5. > ...and should not be seen in the song title, but rather the associated character should appear in place of the entity name as follows: Character 1. " 2. & 3. ' 4. < 5. > For example: Paul McCartney & Wings - Junior's Farm should appear as: Paul McCartney & Wings - Junior's Farm I do not know if this is a bug on the part of the stream's server, or a bug in the WINAMP client. If the song title is supposed to be encoded as as an XML string, then this is a bug in WINAMP and should be fixed. If not, then you might want to delete this bug report... but you might still want to include the replacement of XML entity names with the related character since this occurs on, in my experience, many stream servers. I do not think that this will hurt anything since I do not expect any song title would normally have the XML entity names in it. - Michael More info on XML entity names: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ntities_in_XML Last edited by mwalden2; 16th October 2022 at 23:55. |

Access Violation in gen_ff
While pondering this thread -> http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=459373 I decided to check a full and complete install of Winamp 5.9. When I tried to switch to Winamp Modern skin Winamp just disappears and doesn't come back. I installed the Windows SDK on a non-development machine to test out the feasibility of normal users running debuggers. Not viable. Anyways, I put Winamp under WinDbgX86 and the following is what came up.
FYI, I normally don't do a full install of all Winamp components. [EDIT/] Added info tool report. [EDIT2/] Confirmed with clean install. Winamp crashes when switching from Winamp Classic to Winamp Modern. | Opus Audio Codec plugins 2.0 | Embedded Album Art | DiskWrite | | Save your playlist first! | Live voice-over | X-Fade 2.5 | | AterKast (Source DSP) | More of my stuff... | Last edited by thinktink; 18th October 2022 at 16:59. |

@thinktink
The crash report refers to 5.9.0.9999 which was the beta/RC builds. 5.9 Final is marked as 5.90.0.9999 Also, you'd need to remove all your own and any other non-default plug-ins to confirm if the problem persists with 5.9F A crash when switching from Classic to Modern skin (or any other freeform skins) is not something we can reproduce. The report suggests your gen_ff.dll is corrupted... ________________________________________ EDIT Re: below Hmm, weird... |

I just re-downloaded final from the forums link, uninstalled Winamp, cleared and deleted the Program Files (x86)\Winamp folder, cleared and deleted the %APPDATA%\Winamp folder, and reinstalled Winamp Full. It's still doing it without any 3rd party plugins installed, even my own.
I don't know what else to say or do. Winamp doesn't generate a crash report that I can find. [EDIT/] Including gen_ff for you to look at in case you're right and it's getting corrupted somehow. |

I found a way to get Windows 10 to generate a crash dump. It made two, included both.

that has always been the case. thats bc even if u don't change the info, when u click ok instead of cancel the entire file has to resave. for me it sometimes stutters and sometimes doesn't, but that behavior has been consistent ever since i first starting using winamp, years ago.

Recently installed the new Winamp 5.9 over the previous 5.8 release. Running Windows 10, using Big Bento Modern Windows 10.
I can play from playlists, but whenever I click on the Audio Library folder icon, the audio library comes up blank, and after a second, Winamp disappears. Any attempt to access the library, or rescan it, causes it to abruptly close. |

I am running Winamp 5.9.1 released 12/7/22. I am noticing a distinct lack of a menu option to burn a CD when I click on the CD Burner Drive with a blank CD inserted. I used to be able to drag tracks from the Media Library and burn them to a CD, but not in the latest version. Is this a feature or a bug?
I was able to burn the CD using Windows Media Player in Windows 10, so this is not some sort of hardware issue. |

I know I have a large library but I'm unable to load my entire library, following a scan. Seems fine until ~200,000 files are scanned. After this, the number of files listed under "tracks" fluctuates with each and every stop/start of the application. Drag & drop added (duplicated?) tracks such that it now says I have over 600,000 when in reality I have 365,000.

advance feature in file info tab
I don't know if I'm describing this right, but within the file info tab, you should be able to to advance to the next file (or go back one file). In 5.9, advancing causes winamp to crash.

I'm also using v5.9.1.10027 and I see the forward and reverse controls on the top right side of the Alt + 3 metadata viewer/editor (next to file's pathname), with both the classic and modern skins I'm using. Unfortunately, Winamp immediately crashes when I try to use them.

I just updated to v5.9.1.10029 and what I reported in post #74 above is still occurring.
Since these controls are provided by the unofficial JTFE, that explains it. That probably is also why the Windows Explorer folder and file shell options (Play in Winamp, Enqueue in Winamp, Enqueue & Play in Winamp and And to Winamp's Bookmark list) provided by JTFE are not available in Windows 11. However, the JTFE Queue Manager view in the Winamp media library and the Jump To File window (for searching in the PE) are available and both are working. Egg,
is what is and isn't working when JTFE is present in 5.9.1 known to the devs? if so, can that be made publicly known? is what isn't working something that can be fixed by tweaking 5.9.1? and if not, perhaps that would be a good place to start a challenge by you to the community to create an open source replacement for JTFE? (its odd to me that aspects of JTFE still work while other aspects can crash winamp... obviously that status quo is not a viable long term solution) PENN STATE Radio or http://www.LION-Radio.org/ -- BUG #1 = Winamp skips short tracks Wish #1 = Multiple Column Sorting Wish #2 = Add TCMP/Compilation editing |

Long time winamp user first time poster here. I've been having this issue with "presets" button in a visualization tab, any time I'm trying to left click it winamp hopelessly hangs until I close it with "winamp is not responding" window. However right clicking in the visualization window to show the same menu works fine. This problem occurs in 5.8, 5.9, on all skins where such menu button is available, with or without plugins such as classicpro or color editor. Windows 10.
