Media library is blank

Hi guys.


My first post, so excuse me if I'm not doing it correctly.

Just downloaded WinAmp 5.32 and have a problem with the media library. It's completely empty and when I try to 'Add Media to Library' nothing happens.

What could be wrong? Do you need some more techincal info?

Hi,
this has been reported a few times now, and I'm guessing it has to do with the new 'Add Media to Library' dialog. System specs may help diagnose the problem.

As a workaround, you can add your music folder as Watch folder and then let Winamp scan:
Prefs (Ctrl+P) > Media Library > Local Media > Watch Folders tab >
add folder
click 'Rescan now' button

You can also add files to the ML database by dragging them from Windows Explorer onto the ML window.

What do you mean by "it's completely empty"?
You mean there's nothing in the left pane at all?
ie. no 'Local Media' section, no Audio or Video views, no Playlists section, etc?

Post a list of plugins (see specs link in siebe's post above) and maybe a screenshot might also help.

Wow, thanks for really quick and helpful reply. Problem still not solved, though.

I can't find anything under 'Preferences' - 'Media Library' called 'Local Media'. I get two tabs: 'Library options' and 'Online Media'.

The drag and drop doesn't work either I'm afraid.

Download the 5.32 Full or Pro installer again and make sure, you've checked "Local Media" under "Winamp Library" -> "Core Media Library Components"

Maybe you want to check the other components in the installer too, because your plug-ins list shows, that there are no Media Library plug-ins installed.

Reinstall Winamp 5.32 Full, and this time, make sure the components you require are checkmarked under the Media Library section of the installer options.

Basically, you've got no media library plugins present, which means you must've unchecked them all in the installer.

I got this same problem today - the media library tab was simply blank - you got the tree list down the left, but the pane to the right was blank.

I went into Preferences and found the Media Library section and used the Clear Library button. This deletes the contents of the library (in WinAmp, your files are safe) and restarted it - it then worked fine, just need to rescan the M drive again now... 30Gbs of MP3s take a while!


Edit: That's bizarre, apparently I've just raised a 3 year old thread from the dead, almost 3 years on to the hour from the last post. How bizarre.

Anyway, as I found this thread through Google, I thought I'd post the solution that I found incase anyone else finds this thread.

I am using Winamp since the beginning... and this is the first time I had some troubles with ML. it was grey as shown on the 1st link, two posts above.

As said, I used the "reset ML" button in preferences -> ML and re-sync it.
It worked perfectly, I have my ML back!
