Winamp 5.6.4.3415
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: English Skin: Winamp Modern and Bento OS: Windows 7 Ultimate (64-bit) Locale: English US CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 820 Processor (4 CPUs) 2.80 GHz Memory: 8GB RAM Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce 9100 Sound: Realtek HD Audio DirectX 11 Problem: After adding tracks to an empty Playlist Editor and starting any of the tracks you just added, after playing that track it jumps back to the top of the playlist and starts playing the first track in the playlist. Method or reproduction: 1. Add more than one track to the empty Playlist Editor (or add them with the right-click 'Play Selection' or by double clicking). 2. Start playing any of the tracks. 3. Either let it play or hit the 'Next' button and instead of going on to the next track it will jump to the top and play the first track in the playlist. As far as I can tell it only happens when you first add the tracks to an empty playlist. After it happens the first time, everything seems to behave normally. [Edit --> DJ Egg] Fixed in build 3417 and above. Thanks. |

lostinsound and I are reporting the same bug, altho he clearly did so more thoroughly. however, when I use 5.7 I do NOT need the top right playlist pane to be "empty" to reproduce. I can go to ANY smartview, pick something in the tracks pane, and the playlist in the top right (containing the first smartview) will now populate with the new smartview, and then still do whats described in the bug. it will also do it if the playlist is "empty" first.
it will then behave normally as long as the playlist doesn't change. but if you switch smartviews again, and get a new playlist, it will happen again. Oh yes, can confirm this one, too. Probably a regression introduced with fixing the following bug:
* Fixed: Not playing the first song next when clearing then adding items to playlist Very sadly, this makes 5.64 (build 3415) unusable for me so I have to wait for 5.7 and again have to go back to 5.63 ![]() Anyway, I found two more (rather minor) bugs in 5.64 (build 3415). These are completely cosmetic bugs. 1. The scrollbar on the right in Big Bento skin in Playlists is chopped off (German Lang Pack). (See attached file winamp_1.png.) 2. This one is probably there since 5.63 and earlier: If a shoutcast stream title contains a Line Break, things go weird in Bento skin's scroller and Info pane. Note the stream title in the playlist pane on the right, where just the usual Windows "Square" character is shown for the line break, but no actual layout-breaking line break occurs. Maybe those characters should be stripped before all. (See attached file winamp_2.png.) Best regards, kzuse [Edit --> DJ Egg] All fixed in build 3417 and above. Thanks. |

playback order quirk acknowledged, may just rollback that change or move it over to a 5.7 only change (depending on how long it takes to fix).
the scrollbar issue affects the root view as well as the playlist views. nothing obvious is different with the dialog resources though i may take this as an opportunity to update the window layout code in the plug-in so it'll ensure the correct sizing of things. the line-break aspect (in what appears to be a stream) is a fair thing to patch to do something to strip out those characters. not sure that'll be part of a fixed 5.64 (depends on timing to fix the above two issues). [edit] the language pack issue is now fixed (which should also resolve another quirk koopa had reported about it a few months back). |

and it's going to be fixed as stated above (and actually am doing it at the moment...). so there will be new 5.64 and 5.7 builds with the fix hopefully later today (once we've finished re-testing things).

Winamp 5.6.4.3418
Installed on top of 5.63, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: German Skin: Winamp Modern OS: Windows XP 32 bit Locale: German CPU: Intel Core 2 Duo E8500 @ 3.17 GHz (2 CPU's) Memory: 4GB RAM Graphics: GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost OC Sound: Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer Fatal1ty Professional DirectX 9.0c Problem: Playlist does not show length of tracks by adding them. Method of Reproduction: 1. Make sure playlist title settings are set to load all data at once by adding tracks 2. Just drag any mp3 file to an empty playlist 3. i need more details than that...
is it the main playlist editor or one of the library playlist views ? what types of files ? how you're adding them to the playlist editor ? did you try other file formats ? did you try with the english version ? |

- It's the main playlist editor, I have not media library installed
- All audio files I've checked so far - I'm just dragging them from folder onto the playlist - Yes, mp3, wav, midi, all the same - Switched to en-US, but no difference I've attached a screenshot, HTH! on preferences -> titles, what option is enabled for the title reading? if it's not the last one (read in background and on play) then with 5.64 installed, you would need to select it as that will resolve the issue.
as the 4th option is the default on new installs and is only when that is not selected that i can replicate your issue (though i will look to fix it since it relates to some other playlist improvements which shouldn't have caused it). |

It's the first one and yes, by selecting the 4th option it works. Thanks for taking care about this issue.

ok, wasn't the option i'd expected but makes sense with the behaviour you were seeing. as long as it gets you back on 5.64 then that's the main thing.

Playlist duplication when using Queue
Winamp 5.64
Clean install, no 3rd-party skins or plugins Language Pack: English Skin: Bento Big OS: Windows 7 Home premium (64-bit) Locale: English US CPU: Intel i7 920 @ 2.67GHz Memory: 4GB RAM Graphics: Geforce 9600GT Sound: Realtek onboard DirectX 11 Problem: Song will play twice when added to playlist via the queue. Very annoying at party when someone queues their fav song and x songs later it randomly plays again. Method of Reproduction: 1. Enable queuing 2. set playlist to random 3. populate playlist and play 4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing 5. skip through remaining songs in playlist and queued song will play again. |

are you using the current version of 5.64 i.e. build 3418 from the last week or so ? as that sounds too much like the issues build 3415 had.

yet i'm not able to replicate that behaviour no matter what i've tried so far today. has to be something else messing with things as there's no reason for it to do such things with how things are being described.

There are a couple issues in the report (I will inform Koopa). It says I'm using a visualization when none are installed and it lists gen_jumpex.dll as official (but safe mode blocks it). I switched to the Big Bento skin (since I'd disabled ClassicPro.w5s) and I still get the behavior I've described when adding files to the jtfe queue manager (1st song in the queue plays twice). how exactly are you adding items to the queue ?
and it's listed as official since it's in the installer but i purposefully set it not to run under safe mode initially (after the other issue it's functionality was causing), but dunno, maybe i should or just provide a custom build for testing purposes which is safe mode happy. |

I select them in the playlist editor listing and then use it's context menu's "Send to:" command followed by the "Add to queue" command.

I just downloaded and re-installed to repeat the snag and confirm build 3418.
Once I enable JTFE queue manager, every time I select a song from media library and add it to the queue it shows up in the playlist window, plays next and then repeats before the rest of the playlist is finished. |

Okay.... at Aminifu's request... here I am trying to make sense of post #18. but you guys are gonna have to spoon feed me as I have never used JTFE before. Well, I thought I hadn't until I had been taught that "Enqueue" is JTFE...
![]() These are daft questions, but I don't know your terminology here... Method of Reproduction: 1. Enable queuing - how? Is this "Enable 'queue manager'" window? Or Queue Options / double-click mode \ Enter key mode set to queue? 2. set playlist to random - I assume you mean "shuffle"? And I assume "repeat" is off? 3. populate playlist and play 4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing - how do you add the song? Is "enqueue and play" from the OS context menu okay for the test? 5. skip through remaining songs in playlist and queued song will play again. - okay, now I am lost. If repeat is off then how will it jump from the end of the playlist to the next track? I tried to make sense of this but soon got lost. Of course the track played twice as it is on shuffle and surely if repeat is on it will repeat? And if repeat is off then I can't see how it gets from the last track back into the rest of the shuffle? I'll try again tomorrow... but for now, I am lost in the terms here of something I have never used before Relevant to both this thread and the Beta thread when I was spotting the "bugs" in Enqueue and Play is how I use Winamp. I am a man who listens to albums. In the order they were produced - track 01 to track 12 in order. I never use shuffle, I never load up single tracks, I just have lists of albums in my playlist that I play in order. Usually repeat is on, but other times I will turn repeat off if I have added a podcast to the end of my playlist to listen to. My playlist often grows over the months as I add more albums according to mood. But I always add whole albums. Either drag and drop from the media library, or using the Win OS Context Menu of "Enqueue and Play" on a *.m3u file. |

1 Enable queing: In Winamp preferences there is a "Jump to file" section with "ML options" where you can enable "media library 'JTFE Queue manager view' "
2 Random = playlist shuffling 4. find song not in playlist and add via queue wait until it has finished playing In library you can right click a song and select "Send to" and then select "add to queue" or just left click and drag to the "queue manager" at the bottom of the left hand window under "now Playing" 5. With shuffle on you will see that the playlist advances randomly but the song that you queued via step 4 plays again before the playlist finishes. I hope this helps. |

Anyway, in shuffle mode when you add a song to a list that has already been shuffled, it is shuffled again. This can lead to repeated playback of some items. I'm not sure if this is what you are seeing. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

Lets say I put 10 songs in the playlist we'll call them A thru J.
Lets also suppose that shuffle somehow miraculously plays them in alphabetical order. After songs A thru D play and while song E is playing I add song Z to the playlist by finding it in the library, right clicking it and selecting "send to ... queue" Song Z will play after song E is done and then the playlist will continue to play songs F thru J randomly but it will also play song Z again before stopping after all songs are played. Songs A thru E do not repeat as would be expected, but song Z does. |

the jtfe queue does not modify the shuffle list - it's something that's been on the todo list since 2004 so that what is added and played from the queue is then taken out of the next items to play in the shuffle list (basically requires changes in the plug-in and Winamp core to be able to do it).
also as Aminifu notes, the process of adding an item to the playlist will cause the shuffle list to be altered and so files that have already been played can be re-played again (which is what i think most of the 'shuffle is crap' threads stem from). so for what's described in the post above, that is correct behaviour for how Winamp + shuffle currently works. |

I think whatever subroutine that is called to remove a song from the shuffle list is not being called when the song is played from the queue.

I'm not using shuffle mode. Normally items in the queue manager are removed when they start playback. I'm seeing the first item in the queue remaining until it starts to playback a second time. This lends general support to what is suggested in post #32 (but I think DrO already said it doesn't remove items in the shuffle list). I know you (DrO) have not been able to replicate this behavior, but I'm wondering if anyone else can. Windows 11 Home 64-bit v22H2 desktop - Logitech Z906 5.1 speaker system |

which is what i said in my reply above this. jtfe queue + shuffle have no interaction and until that changes, what is seen in the post which i'd commented on about this is working completely as expected.

I'd say feature request since no plug-in has the interaction level which is wanted as overriding or the playback order was a hack done back in the early 5.x days so never got fully integrated properly.
and as I said its been on the todo list for the plug-in for years so I know about it, is a matter of time to change a) native functionality and b) a plug-in which is developed in my free time and so is generally at the bottom of the list of things to work on. so hopefully at some point I'll be able to do something about it but its not on my immediate list of things since its not causing memory leaks or memory wastage or causing Winamp to crash / hang. |

this was meant to be working fine in 5.65 after a few other things with playlist handling in 5.64 were changed and broke some of the title options. without testing I cannot confirm the reported issue. however the work around is to use the 4th option which is the new default.

is likely due to the French language pack not having been updated for 5.64 / 5.65. will have to see if we can fix it or to get the authors to fix (and update the rest of the language pack).
