Should work without problems. But it might always be a good idea to create an archive first (with ml_ipod), so if iTunes damages anything, you can go back. iTunes always rewrites the database, even if you don't change anything

*waves his middle finger to apple once again*

ugh what the hell... wish i saw this before my stupidass installed itunes 7.1

this is weird, i couldve sworn i had my ipod already installed on this machine, but since i installed itunes , then removed it, iv been having a hard time just geting windows to install my ipod.

for some reason it detects the ipod as new hardware... then disappears and doesnt install anything.

iv restarted my pc thinking this might clear the issue, but now it wont even give me the 'windows has detect new hardware' balloon message and does absolutely nothing...

is this related?

Doesn't sound that it has anything to do with ml_iPod

I recently passed on the beauties of ml ipod and winamp to a friend who has a 30gb video ipod.

She first used winamp 5.32 and mlipod v1.42 with no problems. Then after my advice today she installed winamp 5.34 with ml ipod 2.04p26. (so as to take advantage of the new video folder options)

She also uses her ipod with itunes version 7.1 for photos but she always uninstalls it before using winamp and ml ipod.

So when the ipod is connected and she opens winamp a message appears saying "Ouch what a bummer" then "the file [drive]...ipod control db was last modified by itunes 7.1 or higher". Then "Don't worry all of your songs will be ok but your playlists will be cleared" then "Do you want to continue" then "please think about this".
Well this is roughly what she told me!! She has a lot of playlists which are not stored in her winamp library and so deosn't want to re-create them all again.

I have read this thread over and over about itunes 7.1 and it doesn't seem to cover this as such. I thought any patch over p12 should fix this.

Would really appreciate if anyone knew a fix for this.

I guess she does not have the patch installed, only 2.04. With the latest patch, that shouldn't be an issue any more.

You're probably right - I will install it for her myself.

Thanks for your time and will get back to you if things don't work out.

Actually, I do recall seeing the iTunes 7.1 warning on one of the later patches, after accessing my iPod with pmp_ipod. And after taking a quick look through the code, I see that the code to show the iTunes 7.1 warning is still there.

Sure it is, but it should never be triggered now.

That's just it: I saw it once after accidentally using pmp_ipod (when I upgraded to Winamp 5.34, it got reinstalled somehow). And this was with a post-2.04p12 version of ml_ipod.

Can you try to reproduce this? And then send the iTunesDB that causes the error message.

Funny; I can't reproduce it now. Oh well; I'm not one to look a gift horse in the mouth.
