I'm about to put 3 rounds through this thing!

Ok....so I update to the new mlipod 3.02 I even patch it with the new P18 patch.

Now when I hook the ipod up it KEEPS asking me (every time I plug the ipod back in to the computer) what kind of ipod it is and forgets all the sync setting in winamp (the new version of 5.51pro).

Could someone help a brother out here...PLEASE!

I need some more information to gain some insight. Maybe a debugging archive helps, create it with
"iPod icon->Help->Create archive for bug report". To have the right data in there, please attach your iPod to Winamp, then eject it (keep Winamp runing), then reattach it. Then create the archive and upload it to http://stashbox.org for me... Thanks

here is the debuglog.txt file

http://stashbox.org/68429/debuglog.txt

Also I was looking at the debugging file, it says there is a iPod_Control/iTunes/ml_ipod.ini" file, I looked on the ipod and I cant find it where it says it is (and I have show hidden files on) don't know if that makes a difference, also this all started when I upgraded to the new mlipod plugin.

Thanks

Actually, after hitting eject, the E:/iPod_Control/iTunes/ml_ipod.ini should exist. I just tried it with an empty iPod, it worked fine. No idea why it does not work for you.
As a workaround, simply create that file and enter that as content:
code:
[ml_ipod]
modelNumStr=MA002

One idea comes to my mind: May it be possible that your Windows installation is a bit messed up and you don't have the %TEMP% folder?

It should be "C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator\Local Settings\Temp" (written as C:\DOCUME~1\ADMINI~1\LOCALS~1\Temp in the debug log) Does that exist? Is it writable? Can you create a file there?

I've never seen %temp% mapped to admin unless I was logged in as admin. For me, it's always been mapped to C:\Documents and Settings\username\Local Settings\Temp (C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp on Vista)... which makes sense, since a limited account wouldn't be able to write to the admin folder...

The new patch didn't do it.

Well I just went back to ml 2.01 and the problem is gone...

Also another thing I have noticed that isn't that much of a big deal is mlipod doesn't handle encrypted files very well (like to send encrypted music (xp pro efs) to the ipod.)

That's odd. EFS is handled at the operating system level, so any EFS-encrypted file should be decrypted by the time ml_iPod (or any other application, for that matter) reads it in.

So we have this here:

ERROR: ini_file_onDevice not created

That means a CopyFile call did not succed. If you don't mind, try it again with p20, where I added some more output to the debuglog. This is very interesting, never had that before. I wonder why it happens on your PC???

You really use 2.01? Not 3.01?
