To me love is a complex mix of trust, fondness, companionship, interests, direction in life, etc etc. I've never really thought that hard about it before, I've always tried to pigeon hole it as an emotion but it's really not. Emotions are base instant reactions to something, lust is an emotion, love is not. It's a mental process you may have absolutely no control over, but that in itself doesn't make it an emotion.
