v2 server won't stay running

I've been using Shoutcast for years and years, but since upgrading to v2, I have not been able to keep the server up and running longer than 10 hours or so. I use the newest SHOUTcast DNAS 2.0 on Linux to broadcast and use the latest SHOUTcast DSP Plug-In for Winamp to transmit the music to my private server. Up until upgrading, it was up for weeks and weeks without ever crashing. I purchased Sam Broadcaster and tried using that, but the issue seems to be on the server side. I've downloaded and installed new versions, but I get the same issue over and over. I'm extremely frustrated, especially because I never had a problem with v1.

I am also getting the following messages over and over while watching with top in SSH:

2011-11-25 13:33:10 I msg:[YP2] Connecting to yp.shoutcast.com

I appreciate any help, this has been extremely time consuming and I can't find the problem.

this is the unfortunate down-side when using new code in that sometimes there are bugs (the v1 DNAS would have had the same issues during it's early years).

what linux version (32-bit or 64-bit) do you want a test build to try out as i've made a number of fixes relating to client connection issues in the last few days which is likely to resolve the issue though if you're consistently having stability issues then this would be an ideal time to try out a new version.

with the log messages posted, 'SHOUTcast Metadata Puller' comes from the YP and is used to feed the site's flash player with metadata (far from an ideal setup) and 'SHOUTcast Radio Directory' is used the YP to test the connectivity of the DNAS when the DNAS is getting itself added to the YP listings.

DRO, I really appreciate you responding. I've been trying for weeks to tackle this problem, but it's obviously one I can't fix on my own.

I'm currently running CentOS release 5.7 (Final)

Another problem I have is that when I uncheck the v1 legacy box in the Winamp Shoutcast plugin, it plays great until the end of the song. Once the new song starts, it keeps sputtering and skipping. If you hit stop and start playing again, it's fine until the end of the song, then it does this again. If I check v1 legacy, it doesn't do this but I am using the v2 server software.

k, will run off a linux 32-bit build shortly and pm you a link to it.

with the playback spluttering, are you testing with the site flash player? if so then the test build should also help to resolve that (was some quirks in how the in-stream v1 metadata is inserted into the stream when going from the v2 source input).

Flash

I was testing it with the player on Shoutcast.com I use the code on my websites as well, it was the easiest way I could find to put it on the website where most people could list. I give the info and link to download directly to play with Winamp, but have it automatically play on the websites with the code from shoutcast.com

rightio, well the test build i've just pm'd should hopefully resolve both issues, just make sure to see my note about enabling the debug logging options (if things do crash it makes it a lot easier for me to determine what is the cause).

I'm having a similar problem with the server not lasting more than some hours. Using v2, with Linux 64 bit.

as do / did the people in http://forums.winamp.com/showthread.php?t=339780

as such until a new public release happens, i'm not giving out any test builds (unless it's for a new and unconfirmed issues (*) ) for people to confirm bugs which i know are already confirmed as being fixed. am sure that's not going to be liked but it's causing me more issues / time wasting having to chase up people using older internal versions since they don't keep following development / updating the builds.

-daz

(*) it does not appear to be the case from your post though without a complete log file with all debug logging options enabled there's nothing i can really work against to confirm either way.

_all_ debug logging options need to be enabled in order to see the crash issue which was in the link i referenced in my last post.

Still waiting to reproduce the error with the debug-settings.. No luck with that error yet, so it looks like running smoother now

sounds more like luck than anything in that the client(s) which have been causing the issue are not trying to connect to your stream(s).
