Skin is now working in both WA3 and WA5, so it's published again.

Give it a hour or so to refresh the database before it probably shows up.

The rating system is a bit odd, it's a strange mix of what the admin give it in their review, and what the public rate it at, kind of an average of the two, don't worry about it too much, thing are changing on the skin database shortly, hopefully things will start to balance out a litte more in future.

Is there a way to get details regarding the rating the admin gave me in order to improve the skin?

The rating given by staff is show in your skin details.

http://www.winamp.com/skins/detail.j...onentId=135320

They are explained a little more here in the submission FAQ

Your component 'Sonic the Hedgehog PSO Skin' is now unpublished.

We experienced problems during installation. This needs to be resolved.

---------------

This is the message I got, I also submitted another skin, 'Knuckles the Echidna PSO Skin', which hasn't been published neither (I think for the same reason).

I don't know what to do, since all of my friends didn't have any trouble installing my skins, since it's working on WA5, WA3 and WA2x, since the skin is not 'incomplete'...

Regarding my Brian Powell Music skin... everything IS skinned, nothing is left default save a FEW of the buttons under the "add file to playlist" or "remove file from playlist" menu. I like the way they look. Everything else is drasticly changed. What am I doing wrong here?

My unpublished skin

I completely understand why my skin was not published. However, I put in a good deal of work, got the approval of the original skinner, and could not find the original skin on winamp.com.

I was not trying to 'slip one past you' or waste your time. I named my skin in a fashion so that it's origin would be obvious and I commented it appropriately as well.

I would appreciate it if my skin would be re-reviewed with these in mind or if you would tell me what I need to change for it to be a modification or adaptation rather than a rip. If all you need is the permission, I have the original skinners email: kripttoner@razorart.com.

Thank you for your time and cooperation,

Skin should not look the same as the one from the original author. Original author has to be mentioned in both the description of the skin and inside the skin in the readme file. If your skin does not contain a readme file, make one.

A copy of the permission email can be attached to the bottom of the readme file, this would erase all doubt.

Your skin was one of two that was unpublished because I could not get it to work on Winamp 5 without crashing. You have probably scripted something in it that works with Winamp3, but not with Winamp 5. It gives me a "guru meditation".
Sadly, I don't know how it can be fixed, but I am sure there are people in the WA3 skin forum who can help you out.

Yesterday and Today I recieved a stack of e-mails removing all of my skins from winamp saying that they were copies of skins already in the archives.
Half of my skins have been up on winamp for over two years. And since I make them all from scratch I have no clue how they could be copies of anything

This is the e-mail that I recieved

This skin/plugin is a copy of something already in our archives. If
you feel this is in error please contact us.

Updates in winamp

Every time there is an update in the Wasabi interface, you remove my skin without detailing why!
Can't you update developers about critical changes so they can update them before you remove them?

Most skin continue working, yours does not. Changes are not known to reviewers, just the facts whether a skin works or not.
Add to that the fact that Sebastian Kroll is also updating his skin, his trumps yours, his stays (once it works) and yours does not.
If you use your own graphics instead of his for both skin and screenshots yours might stay also.

This is also the reason I don't like people using/messing with/updating other peoples skins, it gets kinda fuzzy after a while who was the original author, and the original author's skin ALWAYS trumps any versions that come after.

So in case anybody is updating other peoples skins thinking to upload it to winamp.com, if they are the same skin, the same looks, maybe something added, maybe new color themes or modes, they will not be published, even with permission from the original author. Publish them on your own site or other skin sites.

The original author can always update his skins with your improvements though.

it was published here for several months, but now you don't publish the lib files needed to recompile it, (config.mi) I'd be glad if the next version of his skin will be with myupdates (and there is a chance that it'll be that way, although he prefers people to have a choice between the interactive version and the simple version (3).
and with all due respect, he has been talking about the new version for over 6 months, and my version has been working for much longer.
from what I understand from you, I shouldn't work to get my version to work with winamp 5.02, because you won't approve it anyway, right?

What I am saying is make it your own, don't use his work. Especially since he is also working on his own right now, which has also been denied at this time because it crashed winamp.

Make it different from his (in the graphics department) and you'll get it published.

Cid (142586) Appeal..

Is this really too much sex appeal? I find more actual boobs and cleavage on other skins than mine and my skin is made from silhouettes.

http://forums.winamp.com/showthread...threadid=187556

What can I do to make this skin work? Any suggestion?

Let's see.....
In your short life at winamp.com you have so far

1. Offered free porn to kids to make a skin for you.
2. Uploaded a skin with a direct porn link.
3. Placed a porn link on the forum.

If I were you I'd just go away. I will not reconsider my decision. What I will do is ask winamp admin to ban you. People have been banned for less.

I presume that this thread is also applicable to plug-in rejections, since I see no other place that would be.

In regard to Component: Fragmentation (ID 142755)

The rejection reason given was:

"This didn't work properly after installation. It kept erroring out with the message 'not enough available texture units.' Tested on a win2k machine."

The plugin description states clearly that an OpenGL 2.0 compliant video card is required for the plugin. This message would not appear on any card that properly supports fragment programs, which is part of the OpenGL 2.0 standard. So, I don't see an issue here.

Thanks,
Rich

Yes and no, this plugin was reviewed by Nullsoft staf, they rejected it for the reason stated. If you want it published, make it work with any video card, otherwise it's of no use in the database.

Well, the point of the plugin is that it makes use of various "cutting edge" graphics features which are not available on old cards. But very well, I just won't bother submitting it.

Rejected, rejected, rejected...

I got an e-mail about my skin, subject was "Your commponent submission was rejected.", but this was the entire e-mail:

code:

In Regards to Component: SteamAMP Grey(143649)

Also, I got a rejection from my SteamAMP v2 skin, e-mail was as follow:

code:

Please submit screenshots that are more descriptive of your skin/plugin.

In Regards to Component: SteamAMP v2(143640)

And moments later, after trying to "fix" the screen shots, I got this e-mail:

code:

Duplicate

In Regards to Component: SteamAmp V2(142946)

Now, I don't think I am the only one here, I am looking at the most recent skins, and they seem to be having the same issue as me.

Question: Am I really being rejected or is there still a database glitch?

Tried again three times, didn't work. I even deleted the unpublished component each time I tried and not only did that not work, but then the next time I tried to resubmit, it said there was already an existing component, which there certianly is not.

I kept it the third time though, it's Component Id is 143743. I also noticed as I try to submit this for about two weeks now, other skins seem to get on there, which I think I might have been ahead of them, so now I feel kinda ignored. Please help me with this.

Yours has been in the queue for a couple of weeks, it just hasn't been reviewed yet.

It's about 3 from the top at present, probably get reviewed over the xmas break when I get some free time, unless anyone beats me to it.
