In need of anime - suggestions required

Alright, it's been a long time since I watched a good anime series. I need suggestions considering that I've watched and liked the following:

Romantic/Humour => Love Hina, Fruits Basket
Action => Ghost In The Shell 1 & 2, Perfect Blue, Vampire Hunter D Bloodlust, Ninja Scroll, Ultimate Weapon, Vampire Princess Miyu
Intellectual/Weird => Serial Experiments Lain, Boogiepop Phantom

Any suggestion from the anime experts is welcome.

Kare Kano is also called "His and Her Circumstances". I've got it on my as-of-yet-plugged-in desktop, but I've yet to watch it. Since I downloaded all of it, it must've intrigued me.

I'll give you one or two anime from the three lists above that are probably the best of the bunch:

Action: Blood+, Black Lagoon
Romantic/Humor: School Rumble, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
Intellectual/Weird: Monster (best anime I've ever seen), One Piece (takes a bit to get in to. But once it does, you'll love it)

Very honorable mentions: Ouran High School Host Club ('tis yaoi (not even ecchi really), but in a damn hilarious way.), Strawberry Panic, Noein (lots of quantum physics. quite cool), Full Metal Alchemist, Texhnolyze, Death Note (this one is new and still running. The manga is complete and kicks utter ass).

Thanks again Gogitta

Monster seems impressive indeed.

Looks like you know your stuff. There's so much anime available that it's hard to make a choice.

Your help is much appreciated.

Noir is really good.

I also really liked Nadesico, hilarious, I love it when anime makes fun of itself.

Olive et Tom forever

... surtout quand ils mettent 2 épisodes a parcourrir le terrain (qui semble faire 3 longueurs de pistes aériennes)

Nah, .. I liked Full Metal Alchemist much, Twilightseer.

My wife has offered me the first boxset of a vampire series called "Trinity Blood", and I've just ordered the full "Hellsing" series.

I'll report when I've watched them.

Keep them coming

Waiiiit, how does Eureka Seven fit in that list?

Granted those elements are obviously featured in it, but I've always seen it as more predominantly as an action/dramatic title...

I put it in the romance section of it. Not all anime can be narrowed down to just one category.

It's romance, it has some comedy in it, obviously mecha. It's also strange, and has lots of action and drama. What struck me with it was the predominate love story between Eureka and Renton.

I've got some picks that u should try:
Comedy/romantic> Kage Kara Mamoru
Weird/Sci-Fi> Last Exile
Scary/Weird> Project Gungrave

However stay away from ****** at all costs- placed in the 'retarted psycho/michael jackson's favorites' section

Ooor, he could watch and judge for himself. And I have a feeling that when he'd get to episodes 16 and 17, that would be the turning point where he'd go, "oh shit, that was fucking awesome!"

I think someone posted this earlier but I would highly recommend Bleach it is a action anime and is really good. Another anime series I recommend is Wolf's Rain, its kinda of a mix of Science fiction with fantasy and I like it. Another series which I personally enjoy is a series called: Ginga Nagareboshi Gin. It's an old series and its about dogs, its better than it sounds. GNG is kinda hard to find so you would have to download it but if you are interested I can post a link for a website that is translating it.
