    June 2008 pictures

    Here's an idea; there seem to be quite a few people around who like photography. Therefor it looked like a fun idea to me to start a Picture of the month topic instead of a Destop of the month topic.

    I have a few guidelines in mind:
    • When posting pictures directly into the topic, please try to keep the width under 600 pixels and the size below 100kb. There are still people out there who don't have a megabit connection and for their viewing pleasure it'd be nice if we stick to those sizes.
    • Obviously you can always link to a larger version of the picture if you want.
    • All pictures have to comply with the forum rules. Pictures which don't will get removed and you'd get a warning for violating the forum rules.
    • Post only your own work, don't violate any copyright rules.
    • Keep in mind that pictures posted in this topic still have copyright. Although this is the internet and there's always a risk that other people use the image without your permission. If you dislike that idea then either don't post it here or have it watermarked.
    • Have fun, always use constructive criticism and avoid flame wars.
    • If you like, post a little bit of background information about the picture. For example; where did you shoot it, what kind of camera/lens did you use, etc.

    I'll start with a picture taken with my brand new Canon EOS 450D with 18-55 IS kit lens. It's a closeup of a Converse shoe, taken at night with no flash used. Only some fluorescent light of a sunbed. It turned out better then I expected since it's the 8th picture I've took with the camera (I got it that same day).

          I haven't taken any for a few weeks, but when I do I'll try remember to post one here.

            Close enough to June (well, June-like weather).

                it really doesn't feel like June here; only one warm day in what feels like weeks

                  @Warrior of the Light
                  Nice picture, that's a view I rarely get to see here. And surely I have never been able to capture such sunset with my previous camera (Konika Minolta DiMAGE G600). Perhaps with my new one (and the tripod I bought last sunday)...

                  @skryingbreath
                  Nice! Very nice. I like it. Did you edit that picture?

                  @Widdy
                  I've never heard of marimekko. Should I know it from something/somewhere? The stuff on that site almost looks like the stuff you buy at Ikea (no offense).

                      Just enough to make it look pretty. (Seriously though, just curves, colour balance and dodging. Nothing outside of the ordinary for processing.)

                          Exhibit A: Photo is wider than 600px.
                          Exhibit B: Subject resembles a towelhead.

                          Conclusion: skryingbreath is a terrorista.

                            Also, I think 587 is the widest without breaking frames, although 600 isn't a big deal. (Or was it 578? I feel like I have a dyslexic memory).

                            Although I'll probably post a shot or two here too when I get the chance.

                              Skinning and Design is a part of this forum I don't visit very often. However, I did try to search for this kind of topic and nothing came up...
