m3u url not working with relative path

Don't know if this is a bug or feature request - I have an m3u file on my web server with relative path files pointing to mp3 files in the same directory. When I try to open the url to the m3u file, it seems to download the file to a temp directory and try to run it from there - of course none of the mp3 files are there, they are all on the web server. Seems like opening the m3u as a url should run it as a url and pick up all the mp3 files relative to the url.

Is there something I'm doing wrong, or another way of doing what I want (other than using absolute paths)? Thanks.

sample m3u file

Sample:

#EXTM3U
#EXTINF:36,My Recording - 140228_007
140228_007.MP3
#EXTINF:88,My Recording - 140228_006
140228_006.MP3
#EXTINF:96,My Recording - 140228_005
140228_005.MP3

I've also tried the simple format where all there is are the file names:

140228_007.MP3
140228_006.MP3
140228_005.MP3

So, any ideas? Are relative paths in a URL supposed to work, or am I doing something that's not supported? Anyone?

I'm beginning to feel like a freak. Am I really the only person who has needed or who has tried to use winamp to run an M3U file off the web with relative paths?? Am I the only one who thinks this would be a normal and expected use of an M3U file?

I have my mp3's and M3U file in a directory on my hard drive, with an exact duplicate on my web server. Obviously I need relative paths to make the m3u file find the mp3 files in the same directory that it resides in. Are there other ways people accomplish this that I am not thinking of?

it's not been looked into yet (and i hadn't seen the follow-up posts). i think it's not implemented as local vs web has never had an equal level of parity on feature support, but i'm somewhat busy on re-building other aspects of the client functionality before i can look into it (what you've provided is enough to confirm what i expected you were asking for).
