no 3d support in multimon

[read subject, look below]

here are my specs:
amd k6-2 450mhz
256mb pc100 & pc133 sdram
fic va503+ (via mvp3 chipset)
win2k sp3
latest dx8.1, display drivers (xcept for the one noted below)
latest winamp2.80 (i hate 3), milkdrop 1.03

config 1:
ati radeon 32mb sdr pci (latest catalyst)
3dfx voodoo3 2000 16mb sdr pci (default win2k driver)

config 2:
ati radeon 32mb sdr pci (latest catalyst)
nvidia vanta lt 8mb sdr/sgram agp (latest detonator)

[how's for 3dfx, ati, and nvidia drivers competing against each other?? hehe..voodoo vs catalyst vs detonator]

in either case, i have tv output ONLY on my ati radeon. i also use this card for display output TV & VGA. HOWEVER, when i have multimonitor enabled, this card ALWAYS loses D3D acceleration, while the other cards maintain their 3d functionality. when i DISABLE multimon, the radeon regains its 3d functionality. the radeon is ALWAYS set as PRIMARY display. ive tried it under the first and second display also (but still PRIMARY).

iono if this is something i screwed up, or if there's something i missed to setup. i kno of the problems the voodoo3 drivers are having under win2k, but the thread seems to say it would work with win2k's default drivers.

when trying to run milkdrop in multimon with output to radeon, i get this message:
"Sorry - your videocard doesn't support the 3D features required to run Milkdrop."

directx diag also reports that my radeon doesn't have 3d acceleration when in multimonitor.
