Motorist facing charges after using cigarette lighter to check fuel tank

This made me laugh, what a prize pillock.

A Slovakian motorist who blew up his car and a petrol station when he used a cigarette lighter to look into his petrol tank is to be charged with endangering public safety.

The 30 year-old, not named by police, says his fuel gauge had broken and he had pulled into the petrol station to see if there was fuel in the tank.

He says he could not see into the tank and used the lighter to allow him to see into the nozzle.

The naked flame ignited the tank and, as the panicked motorist fled, the fire spread and demolished much of the small petrol station in the west Slovak town of Horna Streda.

The motorist was treated for burns and two other people who were badly injured when his car's fuel tank blew up are still in hospital, Slovak media reports.

Interesting, the way peoples minds work. Must be the weather over there that made him stupid. Or maybe it's because he's foreign

I don't think this guy should have to go to jail over this mishap.... I think they should send in to moron school, where they teach people how not to be a moron.

His testing method did deliver positive feedback, though in a negative manner.

Reminds me of a friend I used to know in middle school. He didn't know that gasoline was flammible then, so one time in his garage he had this little barrel full of gas in it. He threw a match in it and blew up a good portion of the stuff that was in the garage, not including a car. He burnt his face a little, but you could tell something was burned-off, due to a lack of hair. I watched from a good distance and a lucky once, while going over to pick up a book from him that was in his garage. Nevermind...

A very close Japanese friend I knew a while ago once said to me "Watashi no koto wo oboeta, onegai shimasu...Yakusoku?"

I forgot his name though...

No, if he lived in the us he would be suing the gas station for not having a flashlight readily available for him.

Sadly it cannot make the Darwin Awards because he did not remove himself from the gene pool which is a requirement.

When I went to fill up at a gas station once, a person pulled up infront of me an procedded to fill her car, yup, thats right, she didn't turn the car off! THE ENGINE WAS RUNNING!!!!!!!!!!!

No, he'd sue the gas station for not warning him that one cannot look inside the tank with a cigarette lighter. I can't believe how much of a trend it is here in the US to blame other people for your stupidity.

If life calls and you're busy, let the answering machine pick-up.

Just so you know, my previous avatar was NOT a swastika, nor did it have much similarity to one. Just thought I'd clear that up since I cannot use my own original art work.

He could earn an honorable mention under the darwin awards. Check the slush pile, I'm sure someone has submitted that story.
