I downloaded and didn't see any difference except the support for Ogg Vorbis, whatever that is. I just like to keep up to date.

The auto-find source and auto-enter queue are real nifty.

wasn't their some updating to the network? and massively reduced CPU useage?
Thats what beta whatnot said was going to happen in the next release. And I was wondering why the old network was delivering less results. WinMX 3.3 was released and uses a different P2P System thats faster and better

I'm not sure about that. I just used it, and posted what i found. Didn't do much research into what all the upgrades were.

WinMX has always seemed *very* slow to me. Has anyone else noticed this, or is it just me? Kinda seems like the home to all the people with 56k. If I get above 5k on WinMX I'm supprised. Same with Gnotella. Seems very slow. Kazaa-lite doesn't seem to suffer the same slowness problem though. Man, I really miss Audiogalaxy. I could download an album in 8 minutes with it. *sigh*

Any idea what happened to Audiogalaxy? One day, you couldn't dl any songs due to 'copyright protecion'.

most cable/dsl users connect via a primary connection. it then cuts many cable/dsl users' upstream in half. that's a fault of winmx imo.

I always have problems w/ priamry conenction, so I stay at secondary. I regularly get DLs @ 50+ (mulit-point of course)

my computer is too slow and my upstream is low for primary connections. winmx's design is meant for broadband users. dialup users get shotty connections. why should they complain anyway?
audiogalaxy got sued and prosecuted and all that by RIAA. I didnt like it. the webinterface had problems, the downloads had "pips" if they had to restart. it was a shitty program. never made it to version 1.0 either. way to much spyware I'm Back? |

No spyware in the linux version.
![]() Personally, I loved it. 50k+ downloads, consistantly. I was/am very sad to see it go. |
