Cool keyboards...

Hello again everybody!

As I was just thinking about my last trip to Future Shop, I recalled them having a nice $20 Cicero keyboard that was in the flat-style of Palm-pilot or notebook keyboards. The lsat time I went, (the 8th) they didnt have any. If someone knows of a company that sells them or if they can find the Cicero website (which after searching doesnt exist) please leave a link or something as I'd really like to have one of those flat keyboards.

PS - AOpen doesnt have it, (not even the compact keyboards in the one I'm looking for. Just to save you time and keep you fro wasting precious minutes of your lives.

Lenny.

I cant tell from the picture if that is the one AE, but I'll check it out next time I'm in store. Thanks for the link.

I still cant find it but I'm getting closer I think...

How about thos ergonomic keyboards? You know, the ones with where parts of the keys are spread out at a slanted position? Are they cool or what?

Nah, I hate the 'so-called' ergonomic keyboards. It's too damn hard for me to type as fast as I do now.

Slim keyboards they are called. Find them have I not. Lot's there are on eBay. Minor I am.

I've got one, and I think it's great. I'm so used to it that I have a hard time typing on a "normal" keyboard.

Lol @ a portabrick!

God damn....so many auctions on eBay and they dont give you non-aerial view pics of the keyboards, so you cant tell if they are in fact the actual keyboards.

Ah well....I'm gonna be heading to Future Shop this week hopefuly....I hope they have that Cicero one again.

I saw one of those roll up keyboards at the University of New Mexico BookStore. I think they sell for $39.99 there. Proably expensive there. I want one just to mess with. Go to a computer. Roll it down, type. Unplug, take with you to your next destination.

My keyboard is quite honestly the best I have *ever* used. It does lack Winkeys which can be annoying sometimes though.
It's made by IBM, and was original equipment on the IBM PS/2. It weighs about 1500g, and mine was made in 1985. It was the reason I got a motherboard with PS/2 ports instead of the Abit legacy-free one

it ROCKS!

dude ive been looking for that keyboard everywhere since i saw it on the news! its uber sweet. think about it. you can change the keyboard layout. qwerty to dovark. english to chinese! think of games of the future with custom buttons. bam a custom layout. its kinda like the touchscreen keyboard idea that if it isnt patented should be.

push a button on the keyboard a menu popups. push a button on the menu you got a custom keyboard layout.

hmmm semen keyboard seems neat... siemens... excuse me.

it'd be quite strange to "type" on hard wood. i also seen those roll up keyboards at kitty hawk, an air cargo company.

W00t!!! I just bought me a new keyboard! Unfortuately, it is not the slim one like I wanted, but it is still thinner than ther regular keyboarsds.

They keys are very soft to the touch so they are quite nice. And, it was only $10!!!! Not bad for a temporrary replacemen/laptop full sized keyboard.

Anyway, It's got buttons for Shut Down, Hibernate and Suspend. Haven't tested them yet though.

I love those things. My one major quibble with modern keyboards is that they don't "click" like typewriters used to. I grew up using a typewriter for my school assignments, so I need that tactile feedback. Modern keyboards feel flimsy.

this is the best pic i've found featuring my keyboard:

It really is a beast, the only thing is it's quite far off the desk, I really need to use a wrist-rest for it.

I know what you mean. I grew up with the types of keyboards in Herb's pic, and I got so used to them at one point that I could type 60-70 words per minute with those things. I enjoy them as well, but ever since the new keybards are now getting softer and softer to the touch, I can't help but adapt to the feeling of the keyboard. The plus side is that I can type many more WPM with the softer keyboards! Also, this new keyboard of mine is soft, but you still get that whole 'feedback' from it the further the key is inside the keyboard when typing, so it's still traditional in certain respects.

if i find one on ebay, will you buy it for me?

My logitech keyboard feels great to type with, you need just enough pressure to push the keys...it just feels right, not too sticky and not too...muffled.

pop the keys and see if anything is under there. Proably hair, dust, oil, and some food particles. Could that be why its hard to press the keys?

that would be sticky keys hehe otherwise some key boards might have strong springs that make it difficult to press. also concave keys versus convex keys plays a big factor. I like very low key pitch (2mm press) and small keys. Its faster to type that way.

Does anyone use a dovark keyboard?

I think so. As long as it's PS2 or USB it will work fine. right?

The old, old, keyboards have hard springs which hence causes the click when the key is fully depressed.

My keyboard has a low pitch of about 4mm.

I think I 'christened' my keybard last night while playing CS. I was drinking some root beer and I spilled some onto it so I had to rush to clead it all up before it dried. I let it dry for about a whole day, and it's good as new now. Now it has a very faint scent of vanilla. Pure bliss.
