When case mods go well....

Picked up my new case a couple of days ago, spent a few hours cutting holes, making a new fanbus, wiring up a case light (a modified led stop light from a car of all things), adding fans...

Ripped the bits out of my old case, spent 5 hours doing the wiring (im a perfectionist, there must be at least 150 cable ties in there), installed the hardware, tested if everything worked....

The result: a 1-2 degree temp drop...With the mega bright 20 led case light turned on. Rock solid 34 degree idle temp and load temp of 38 degrees, with the ambient temp around 20 degrees.

I didnt get a monster full tower either, settled for a nice black midtower with a built in perspex window, and instead of having 7 case fans, i dropped it back to 4, two intakes at the front, two exhausts at the rear. So its ultra quiet, quieter than a standard pc. It looks ok, but doesnt have that bashed up, well used look anymore, oh well. And its still portable, but i will be adding a carry handle.

Who knows why it runs cooler, it just does, maybe i got the airflow equation just right, maybe having 4 exhaust fans and 3 intakes causes an imbalance.

Anyways, I'll take some pictures tomorrow if anyones interested.

None of those are as good as my case.

Some of the pics taken were:
http://www.buriedshadows.com/images/...oldcathode.jpg

and

http://www.buriedshadows.com/images/casepics/front.jpg

there are a few other things I want to do with it, but it's hard without decent metal working tools.

But, yeah, nice mod Atmo. Be sure to post some pics.

It actually wouldn't surprise me if one day someone did manage to make a case mod that involved fire.

Not many mods recently, 5 1/4 bay fan controller/temp monitor thingy and some thermal switches and stuff. Not really worth taking more pics.

Planned in the next couple of months:

New monitor, XP2800+ and 512mb of pc3500 so i can put my Thunderbird 1400, 512mb pc2100 and old A7V266 in this case, grab an Antec fulltower, chuck the new gear in that and go nuts. Since it'll be a gaming/graphics PC only, noise wont be a concern...I've got 10 80mm and 2 120mm fans that need a home.

bah! the GrazerMaster case may be impressive to look at, but i hear it has little to no cooling potential - definately the choice of the showy amateur.
