do use use both the server and the winamp shoutcast plugin and if so put "localhost" in the connection box on the plugin output screen. Also set your port controls for 80 instead of 8000 if that doesn't work leave another reply and i'll try again.

tried it heres what happened
not sure if i did this all right...when it comes to network stuff within windows this isnt my strong point.......
i put the port as 80 in the sc_serv file. is that what i was sposed to do? then i went into winamp and selected the shoutcast plugin. it brings up a box that says shoutcast source. i clicked on the output tab and put in 'localhost' in the address bit.. is that right... also the box wont close probably because there is some sort of error. there isnt an ok button. i ran the shoutcast server and got this Event log: <10/03/02@23:11:55> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.8.9 (Mar 15 2002) starting up... <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] initializing (usermax:15 portbase:80)... <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] opening source socket <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] source thread starting <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] opening client socket <10/03/02@23:11:55> [main] error opening client socket! FATAL ERROR! Some other process is using this port! <10/03/02@23:11:55> [source] listening for connection on port 81 it needs to have 1 number from the port free as well doesnt it...what now |

Well the server is loading correctly you just need to find a free port on your computer. Do you connect throught a lan or a regular internet connection and do you have a firewall.

If you do a search on the threads it will give you the information you should need. I'm not quite positive on how to find a firewall i have a massive one of my own.

cant seem to find anything on search. what are the two options anyway. if i have a firewall or if i dont. Also the log now looks like this...slightly different but a more positive output:
Event log: <10/04/02@00:38:49> [SHOUTcast] DNAS/win32 v1.8.9 (Mar 15 2002) starting up... <10/04/02@00:38:49> [main] loaded config from C:\Program Files\SHOUTcast\sc_serv.ini <10/04/02@00:38:49> [main] initializing (usermax:15 portbase:80)... <10/04/02@00:38:49> [main] No ban file found (sc_serv.ban) <10/04/02@00:38:49> [main] No rip file found (sc_serv.rip) <10/04/02@00:38:49> [main] opening source socket <10/04/02@00:38:50> [main] source thread starting <10/04/02@00:38:50> [main] opening client socket <10/04/02@00:38:50> [main] Client Stream thread [0] starting <10/04/02@00:38:50> [main] client main thread starting <10/04/02@00:38:50> [source] listening for connection on port 81 what now...do i use a different port. which one. |

Actually you've got your server set now you need to configure your dns plugin for winamp unless someone else is going to use your server

need to know what to put in the port base, and Yport. maybe those are the reasons why it doesnt work. and just to make sure what is the ip address i use again.. the one of my computer as the whatsmyipaddress showed me or the one assigned to my ethernet card.

Now you just need to connect the DSP. Make sure you change the port in the DSP to 80.

I have configured the DSP to look at port 80. When I start server and winamp, the connection is never established.
I have a static IP. PortBase=80 DestIP=ANY Yport=80 (Tried with 666 also) Again if I set the port to 8000 I do not have any problems except for the fact that when I am outside behind a firewall, I cannot connect, I get a timed out message. Since 80 is the only port available, I need to set the port to 80. Help is appreciated. |
